Good But Not Expensive Fc Line

Featured Replies

I need some new FC line but really don't want to spend a fortune any ideas for some good cheap line

Thanks

Cheap FC I that I have liked the most is probably XPS fluorocarbon.

Also found some some Seaguar Red Label but don't tend to use it much. Not sure why, to be honest.

What do you mean by cheap?

I am a big Seaguar FC fan.

Seaguar Red Label - $11.39 (used for leaders)

For any other presentation (Drop Shot, Shakey Head) I go with Invizx - $17ish

I have some red label FC that I use for finesse presentation leaders in 8 pound test I need something for spinnerbaits or crankbaits

Cheap but good is Ande.

12/15# red label is great for cranks but the abrasion resistance isn't the best.

Sunline Super FC is okay at $14/200yd spool, Vicious Elite is another at $14-$19 depending on lb test, Original Vicious FC is good at $9-$14 but I'd only reccomend 15lb test and up with that line, P-Line 100% is good but getting up there in price from $17-$26.

In my personal experience however, it is usually better to spend the money and get the good stuff. They last ALOT longer and thus save you $ in the long run and just flat out put the cheap stuff to shame.

I have had some reels spooled with the same line for 2 years now with no issue, and I fish 5 days a week during open water season up here. With the cheaper stuff I would respool once a month but the more expensive stuff just lasts! A little KVD Line and Lure and away I go. I love P-Line Halo, Sunline Sniper and Shooter.

I used sunline super all of last year in 16lb and 20lb and liked it. I found Red Label on sale a months ago so I am going to try that this year as well.

I would suggest Stren Flurocast

Seaguar Red Label or Vicious Pro Elite.  I've used them both and they both have worked out pretty well. Not a lot of love here for Vicious lines but I have had good experience with it, no complaints.

Seaguar red and I also have used Viscous on occasion with good results.

Yozuri Hybrid is one to consider as well as XPS FC.  If you watch the sales carfeully, PLine goes on sale where you can buy two spools and get $6 back.  BPS is currently running that promo during their Fishing Extravaganza.

If XPS is good enough for KVD its good enough for me.

I like Seaguar Red Label. I have no idea how it is for a main line, as I only use it as leader material. But, it has not let me down. IMHO it's much much better than Vanish, or Trilene 100%, which are the other two FC lines I used to use.

Key words here are a "cheaper" and "spinnerbaits and crankbaits". I would venture to guess you are wanting to stay under $20 for the spool of line so that eliminates many options right off the bat. I have used ALOT of floro lines as they are my preferred line for about 80% off the techniques I utilize. With that said I would probably opt for 12# abrisix for the abrasion resistence factor. For slightly better casting distance I would look at invisix. Both of these lines can be had for less than $20 during sales and eBay.

If cheaper is less than $15 red label is a decent choice but I would shell out a few extra bucks for invisix or abrisix.

I am intrigued by sunline reaction floro at $22 a spool. May be worth a look if you want a line specifically designed or marketed for reaction baits and will to step a just a small amount in price.
