What type of plastic worms do you use?

Featured Replies

Just curious to see what kind of worms you use and what you have found to be effective.  Brand, color, size, and weight you use would be helpful.  Thanks in advance fellas.

Thats a ridiculously hard question to answer.  I've got tons and tons of different kinds of worms.  Straight tail, paddle tail, curly tail, etc etc.  Really it all depends on what conditions you're fishing in.  The Zoom trick worm is basically a straight chunk of plastic with each end being a little wider than the body.  Lots of people swear this is one of the most effective worms ever.  The Yamamoto Senko is simply a straight worm that tapers from nose to tail in terms of thickness.  It's another lure that produces gross amounts of fish each year.

Which do I use?  Whatever I feel like on that specific day.  Pick color based on conditions and weight based on depth.  Yesterday I put on a Rage Tail thumper for no reason other than it's what first caught my eye when I was looking at my plastics.  I was fishing sheer drop offs that go from 3' down to 30' almost instantly.  1/2oz piece of tungsten on it and whacked fish for several hours.

Ribbon tail worms.

They have always produced for me so I have never bothered trying a different kind.  I'm sure there are plenty others that would work equally well on my waters, but I havent had the need to try them so I havent.

Man, there are SO MANY types of worms.  I can't pick just a few, LOL.

Rage Tail Thumper

Rage Tail 10" Anaconda

Senko 5",6" and 7"

Kut Tail

Larew 7 1/2" Salty Ringworm

Roboworm 6" Shakin' Zipper

8-)

My favorite is Berkley and most of the hot colors. But I have used many, many different brands and types. They all work I think it is all about confidence.

Berkley 7" inch powerbait.  I have caught plenty of big fish on it, and really do think they hold on longer than any other.

Like most I have and use a huge variety of plastic worms. Today my favorites are Zoom Trickworms, Zoom mag worms, and SK Anacondas. Green/red and junebug colors. If you ask me after my next trip the answer may be different. :D

Go over an ask at Grady's they will be able to help you with what you need for the lakes around you. I know several people from up in that area that swear by them.

look at any place that sells plastics..look at their selection...

and most everyone here could mimic it andstart their own fishing department...   ;D

zoom

u-tail, trick worm, finesse worm

rage

anaconda

berkley

power worm 7" and 10"

yamamoto

senko

strike king

shimmy stick

i think many different ones will work... once you catch a few fish on one brand... it'll be your favorite.  until the bait monkey gets ahold of you and you buy something else...and it works....and so on.....  :D

Exclusively taling about worms about 70% of the time I fish with one worm type ---> straight tail worm ( Trickworm ), watermelon/gold flake is the one color I like to fish the most.

Zoom trick worm in black. They are affordable and they work. I have bags and bags of other worms but always end up catching them with the trick worm.

J.

Berkley 8 inch power worm

color: "liver red" or "pumpkin seed"

texas rig with a small split shot

Yeah I've been using the black and white Zoom trick worms a lot so far this year.  Some days they work, but lately I haven't had any luck with them.  I mean I got a ton of different worms just seeing if I could find a pattern of what was working this time of year.

Sorry Steve but my #1 goto is still a Gene Larew 7 1/2" Salty Ringworm Cinnaman Pepper Neon Junebug Laminated

Zoom Trick Worm

Clear water- watermelon or limited edition motor oil

Tannin water- black or pumpkinseed

Stained water- pumpkinseed

Smoke Purple w/ purple and black flake for my Senko style baits

Blue and black solid laminates for my ribbon worms (usually a Luck E Strike Ring worm)

That's about the only 2 worms I use. I like to keep it simple :D

Zoom U-Tail 7" + 10.5" Monster  Red Shad

Zoom Trick 7" Watermelon w/black flake

Yamamoto Creature Black w/red flake

That's it for me.
