Would like to buy one of these reels.   Chronarch C14 or Core 100MG. Any thoughts or opinions would be welcome. Is the Core worth the extra $$$?

If you want it now, you'll have to get the Core.  The CI4 isn't available yet. How the CI4 stacks up against the Core in the real world is just speculation at this point.

You should get the Core now and then the CI+ in a month or two, whenever they come out, so you can give us a full report.

Was talking with the Shimano rep and he was saying they are hoping for a mid August release. He thinks that the release of the chronarch ci4 is really going to hurt the sales on the core. Lower price for a just as light and its also a much stronger reel.

The new Chronarch looks cool. Shouldn't it be compared to the Core 50 not the 100? If so the Core is lighter and yes, more expensive.

It's a carbon frame. I'd get the core now and a chronarch later. You won't be disappointed with either

Same stuff that's used for the Stradic CI4.  I've literally caught thousands of smallies with mine, and no issues.

Yup the Ci4 plenty strong. I thought the Core line was being discontinued. If that's the case I'd load up when the clearance sales start.

According to Bantam1, nothing is being discontinued and nothing is going on sale.  The Core and the Chronarch E are staying right where they are.

core is proven warrior and will always be a legend in my book.  core or new chronarch nothing can beat the size of the 50 series great for my hands

Doesnt help now but a few days ago BPS had Cores on sale for $260

Since the CI4 chronarch has been introduced people have been selling their cores to make room for them. Look in the used markets for them cause there's a lot more

I dont think I would sell my Core50 but Im returning my Chronarch50 so as to make room for the CI4+.
