Took Me Two Years

Featured Replies

I started seriously bass fishin last spring, and shortly there after set a personal goal for myself to land a 5lber...though not that big, its not that easy to come by here on the Jersey shore. Well yesterday after work, the skies went from raining all day, to not a cloud in the sky. I got home grabbed my gear and head out to my favorite spot about 40 minutes from where I live. It was 6:30pm when I arrived, the water seemed still and nothing was popping off. I tied on a Booyah 3/8 double colorado spinnerbait, and on my third cast it hit..and boy did it put up a fight. It jumped out of the water four times, trying to throw the hook but I managed to land her. She showed 5lbs 2oz on the scale, a few people passing by stopped to admire its size. I put her back in the water, watched her swim off and packed up to end on a high note...now today its back to pouring which sucks cause the goal to get my next pb is running wild in my head.

Nice fish. I use to live in Manasquan and lived in Monmouth County for 15 years. That's a nice size fish for Jersey. I know some real good spots that if you went now the fish would be huge because I haven't fished there in at least 6 years and nobody fishes it.  PM me and I can could tell you where some good spots are in the area.

Nice job, great fish.

Nice fish! I bet it felt good to catch her after waiting so long.

If you held it even closer to the camera you could probably have said it was 6lbs!!! :blob9:  Nice fish and great job on getting your PB.

NICE!

Congrats on the new PB! Get some good rain gear and get out there in that rain! I'd much rather fish in nasty weather than nice weather, especially if I'm chasing big fish!

BOOM! Congrats!

Hahaha yeah unfortunately because of my size, if I hold even a large bass close to my body it looks as if I am holding a small baitfish  so I tend to go with the classic largemouth pose

I actually have been looking into getting some, but with the price of rain gear I'd much rather put the money into actual fishing gear and just brave the rain...In fact my previous pb(4lbs) was taken in a heavy downpour on a buzzbait. I was soaked, but it was hot out so I didn't mind.

Nice bass from a fellow jersey fisher
