I was feeling left out so I wanted to submit this nominee....

for little fish nominee of course.... LOL.

This is all I can catch lately in my neck of the woods. Sad I know....

You and me Lou!

I went out today after work and got 2 on a senko. Then as I was bringing the senko back, I got a massive top water strike (that's my top water swim senko technique I've perfected with Gambler the other weekend... hey, at least I wasn't jigging with a spinner bait like he was :P) but he cut the senko in half and no fish. Then I switched to a popper, got on hit, but no fish. Finally I tried a spook as well as frog but nothing. Quiet evening.

This little guys is from last Sunday with Gambler LOL:

Today was the first time in 2 weeks I had time to fish ad the bite was absolutely on fire! I went to a canal near my house and I must have caught 15+ fish in 2 hours!   Lou, are we doing fractional

  • Went out this morning and got a few. @85.5" top 5 so far.....

  • Man I am jealous hearing about your guys spots, I have to avoid couches, shopping carts, bicycles, all kinds of junk in my canals. Maybe Lgmouth can relate. I am fishing for real urban bass, Lol, the

Gator I am glad you are getting action on the frog. It's exciting to say the least. If you don't mind me asking, What set up are you using to frog?  Braid? mono? What power rod were you using?

I just had it set up on a 7' Penn Rod that I picked up a while back on sale at Dick's lol.  It's the only one I have that has a decent backbone to it. I have 50lb braid on it annnnnd it is a spinning rod.  I don't know how to fish with a bait caster yet.  I was using a black and yellow spro frog.

Any suggestions are appreciated!  I am still learning a lot.  I am hoping to get a new set up for Christmas but I am going to probably make a separate thread for that just to get opinions.  That is if we don't get one next week when bps opens hahaha.

Hi girl! Here's what I can offer regarding frogging:

1) Drag tight as it can go!

2) 50lbs braid.

3) Make that fish see twice when setting the hook.

4) Give him 1-2 seconds after the hit.

Good luck! Maybe I'll put you in my next video as well if you're frogging get's better :P

EDIT TO ADD: Booyah Pod Crasher Junior is the only frog you should be using :D

Thank you!  I could guess my drag probably needed to be tighter.  I def have good braid on.  I for SURE waited on the one.  He pulled it down into the canal but I may not have set as hard as I should.  I appreciate it!!!  I was using a spro frog but I have my eye on the one you mentioned lol.

Video of my day as promised. Very productive...

The location looks pretty. I have yet to fish around cypress trees.

20" from this morning. Slow bite. Shouldve just slept in!

Yea, real cool video, lol. Lotsa action. Last week was a much better bite but it was a bit cooler and we have warmed up some this week. Cold front next weekend. I know the bite last week was after a cool down contrary to what all the authors say about cold front bass being tough. They were hunkered in the shoreline that day.

It was dead out there and I was having a heck of a time with things. I also fell out of the boat at one point but I deleted the footage on accident. I wish I could get a better angle. I know I love watching vids of fishing when I'm not out there and I'de love to contribute.

Here are some pics to show what my boat looks like. There is the wood block mount for the front trolling motor on the right side. Center area cut out for where the 2 trolling motor batteries go, and the one in the back for the rear trolling motor. Both have painted wood covers for the front seat battery area, as well as the back one.

yes sir.. you too!

Caught my personal best today.  Once again the green pumpkin stik-o did the trick.  21 inches in length and fat....I think I finally get to call this one a pig.  I do not have a scale, but I think this was definitely in the 5.5 -6 lbs range,  Pics are of same fish one for length, the other for fun.  Very exciting pulling this thing in.  Also, used a nice trick I learned from the YouTubes (think it was a KVD video).  The fish pulled me and stuck me to a rock ledge, then I gave it just a tiny bit of slack and I felt it loosen just enough to pull its head up and out.  Lost two other fish the other day at same spot by giving it to much slack and it just jammed even farther in the undercut.  Will keep that bit of knowledge for later.  After the worms slowed I threw a spook and got 10 or so hits but not one hook-up.  Would yall keep throwing the spook or switch to something else on the topwater?  I just chalked it up to small fish, but I am not really sure.  What do you think.  Well, here is my fish......I am a happy camper today.

Nice fish! Congrats.

Nice fish! Congrats.

Often times the smaller bass don't inhale the whole frog right away and only grab it by the skirted legs. You can try waiting longer before the hook set, but then you risk him spitting it out. But if you get a large one to strike, follow my instructions :) btw, my hookup ratio was 1 to 10, after switching to Booyah Junior frogs it went up to 9 in 10, those Booyah Jr. are really the best in my opinion.

Good luck!
