what lure to use during rain

I am throwing spinnerbaits and buzzbaits ALL DAY LONG!!!!

Well, for one, I would never throw a nightcrawler.........second, rain or shine, I would use the same baits for the conditions....... but I do like cranks in the rain as well as soft plastics........topwater also seems to work well for me in the rain.

Love to fish in the rain, as long as there's no lightning. Rain on the surface disrupts light penetration, so many fish will come up shallow to feed. Lots of things work.

One of my favorites is a big worm, like a 10" Power worm, on a 5/0 ewg hook with no weight. Throw it it up on the bank, and slide it down into the water. Work it slowly on top. Keep it with 3 or 4 feet of the bank. Don't set the hook right away.

A spinnerbait, cranked just under the surface, is a top option.

A shallow crank, like the Minus-1, is also good for these conditions.

Think the top foot or two of the water column.

i went out last friday an got about 3 bass in a 45 minute rain shower on a mann's baby 1-

Buzzbait or any type of top water lure for that matter. I was watching an In Fisherman video a while back and he made the statement what do all people do when it starts raining, we all run to the window to see. He says bass do the same thing they start looking at their window the water surface. He talked alot about throwing topwater in these situations, Ive went out on the water and put it to the test and its worked for me.

I like a Chug Bug - Chrome Blue, or a really shallow running crank, like a Bandit 100 or Bandit footloose.  I also have a gold and green foil-bream colored Bagley Honey B (I think it's a honey b...) that runs 0-2 feet that is really good in the rain.  Last year a black/blue chatterbait did really good at my pond in the rain too.  I would cast it onto the opposite bank and drag it into the water.  The bite came only a couple of feet from the bank.

Right before it is about to rain, while its raining, and right after its done i like to use topwater baits. I also like to use a Rapala orignal floater and twitch that on top and swim it real shallow.

Id absolutely use a propeller lure like a devils horse, with the raining hitting down on the water it creates a choppy effect just like windy days, these are perfect for those type of conditions and it has worked for me, ive caught some monster bass right before and during the rain with propeller surface lures, give it a try

Rainy conditions = topwater.

Other things may work as well or better on any given day.  Especially that big curley tail worm.   (thought it was one of my secrets)

but when it's raining the chances of them hitting topwaters is excellent.  I'll usually start with a buzzbait but keep on going till I find the best choice.

spinnerbaits with painted blades are also a good choice.

Whatever you do, DON'T throw a chatterbait in the rain.  If that blade gets wet it'll rust every time!!!   :)

If it doesn't work, try some shower curtains !

I'm with Muddy.  I have tried all sorts of lures, and none of them keep the rain off you. ;D

i really like the top water if it is litly raining ..... for this i like the spook ,,, horney toad ,,, and a buzz bait ..... if the rain gets harder i will move to a senko ,,, or a 6-10inch power worm .... just keep adjusting till you get bit ,,, with out a dout i love fishing the rain .....

If you take away only one thing from this thread this should be it!

I cannot agree more.  When it rains I'm pulling out my black double buzzbait.  I like it better than the single because they run a whole lot straighter and I can really slow buzz it.
