Getting Frusterated, Any One Else

Featured Replies

past couple weeks have been bad fishing wise. just seems like things aren't going my way, let me make you a list

#spent about a half an hour one night learning a new knot, cool right, but having trouble. tried probably 12-15 times. finally got it and I cut the main line instead of the tag line. grr. got to do it again. practice makes perfect

#tie a new leader to braid on my spinning reel. first cast get snagged on a rock break off the leader.

                              (same day)

#again using a flipping jig get stuck on a log, no biggie. I snapped the 15 # line and in doing so I put a gauge into my bait caster. wow. pretty much took 50% of my line with it. had to respool.

#lost about 4 new crankbaits, 6 custom jigs, 3 custom Spinnerbaits, AND...

# a spinning rod my only spinning rod broke in half.

now im just ranting. after a day of getting skunked on the water I just need to. I know all this comes with the sport. just wondering if any of you share this pain.

                                                                               thanks

The past few weeks have been bad for me too. I was all excited for the fall bite only to have it turned off here. I have had days like you mentioned a few time. Stick with it. Usually just as I am about to throw a rod in the water I end up with one really nice fish. It's funny how that will make you forget about all of the other things that happened before.

Some days are diamonds...some days are stones...some days you're better off not leaving home.

If only we knew in advance. :laugh5:

Last few days have caught zip (well, it's true I've been trying to learn new techniques. That's my excuse:P) Was out today and tried to go under a low bridge, got caught and flipped. At least my gear was tied in. It's probably because the bass gods were angry that I tried a piscator rig

Yea Fall for me is also a bit of a hit or miss at times.. and with the cold fronts moving in and thru and all.. you sometimes misjudge the effects.

I have limited time to fish for only a few hours each outing so I need to really strategize and get right the first go on what the fish are doing on the day and time of day.. and fall is the worst season for that.. seems like day to day they are just preferring different locations and different bites.

Still, I take it as more of a tougher challenge.. and enjoy the scenery as well.

Fall can be very frustrating or very rewarding. It's always one or the other for me. Just keep plugging. If your water has turned over give it a rest. I always think back to spring and what the water temps were when it was good. Once the fall water temps replicate the good spring you should have a good fall. Game on .

Sounds a little like my day fishing the river last week. I was after blues and flatheads and I like to search for active fish by setting my lines up and waiting 30 minutes before moving to another spot. First spot, no bites, so I went to reel in, all 3 lines snagged and broke off while I was reeling in.  :dazed-7:  Next spot, same thing, no bites and all 3 lines broke off. Never had a problem with snags in that area before so must be a bunch of stuff that washed in earlier this year during a high water event. Some days you catch them, some days you don't.

I feel your pain, Bruce24. Figure out if there's something needs to be done on your end, and just don't think about them over and over. Take time to enjoy positive things when you go out fishing, like weather for instance.

The first 3 are not that bad thou.

Lol thats funny but unfortunate for sure. I threw a fit once when I lost my customized spinnerbait. Wasnt catchin crap one day, then I found a patch of pondweed and swam that threw it just got down into the weeds and slam and snap. I was ticked off to say the least. opening day this year I managed to fall outta 12ft boat. That was rather cold, I kept fishin tho. Cant leave a good jig bite......

Bruce wins! Hands down, Bruce had the worst week of anybody.

Of course next week Bruce will win the Billion Dollar Lotto but for now, everyone can sit back and know that Bruce was a disaster last week.

Hey, from here on Bruce's luck can only go up.

When I have days like that they are called "Scott Days", and my friends tend to keep their distance in case some of that bad luck tries to rub off.

I just went out for 3 hours and got 1 bass. im going to start waiting till the sun comes up and warms the surface temp up!

I've had it very slow compared to past years, but then our  tempertures has been 10-15 degrees below average for a few weeks. To give you an idea, last years water temp. was 56 degrees on the 12th of Oct. This years it was 46 degrees
