I was looking at getting one of the Spro Bronzeye Shads and was wondering for topwater, does color really matter? If so what would you be looking for to use in a stained to muddy lake.

 

Also, is there any difference besides looks between the Bronzeeye Shad and the Bronzeye Frog? They looked the same to me but I wasnt sure. Thanks!

Yep. One day a friend and I were using frogs at a pond with lots of lily pads. He was using black, I was using white. Both booyah pad crashers. He had 10 strikes and I had 0. I dont know anything about Spro's bronzeye series so I cant help you there.

That's not why you had zero hits.

This is why I buy every color of every lure. I throw every color till one works.

idk in lily's the color really matter or over scum for that matter. in open water I experiment.. I have many different colors. they all catch fish. but most of the time I think bass feel the frog pushing water and moving the pads around when you go thru with the frog... I've switched  different colors before when they were missing my frog... and have them crush it or not even touch...   but if you drag a frog over a bass in the pads and it wants frog it will go get the frog.. if it doesn't well you'll just be practicing casting till they want it or get annoyed

I've got 8 spro frogs and most of my bites come from the killer gill color, after that my favorite is the black popper

Also the bronzeye shad is supposed to be easier to walk than the regular frog.

black...creates best profile in all conditions. clear has also been one of my best topwater colors.

100% agree the natural colors are the best since its natural youll get more bites

I usually start with black, if that's not working I'll switch to black, if all else fails I'll go with black. 

At least 1 black and 1 white. Most of the natural color frogs (green) have white under bellies anyway

^^ what he said.  The green frogs usually have white underbellies.  Black and Frog colors (bronze or green spotted) for me.

I am partial to black or all white also but the bluegill color seems to catch em as well if not better for me

I throw Academy's H2O in charteuse with a white belly. Uh I will be adding black!
