Bait monkey and homeowners insurance...

Recommended Posts

The bait monkey has accumulated a great deal of equipment recently....and I was wondering if any one else has taken pictures to document how much the Bait monkey has purchased in order to have it in case stuff gets stolen from the car home or boat....

With the cost of tackle these days I thought it would be a good idea to take pictures for back up so that the insurance company would believe what ridiculous amounts of money the bait monkey has forced me to spend recently....Below are the beginings of a file marked "Bait monkey"

d**n, you've been bit big time. I know the feeling, every time I get an e-bay purchase confirmation I get the evil eye from the Mrs.

BTW, do you fish the sock weighted? ;)

Yeah, right.  My wife would love that one.

A sexitary would be nice.  Jenna Jamesen, perhaps?

On second thought, good idea.  Get her, and post her pics!!!!  Don't forget vids.

I think you are better off taking a chance on the loss rather than documenting all the money you have spent.

Your wife might find the evidence!

You look very organized and each lure is perfectly placed.  So would you like to come over and organize all of my stuff.  I have about 12-15 3700 waiting to be organized.  Lures in baskets, on the floor, in the corner of the closet, laying on the dresser and a few other places.  I could use some help in cleaning up all the stuff I have laying around that the baitmonkey has conveniently placed about. :;)

That 's the absolutely best argument I 've heard against the insurance.  ;)

I am planning on getting her "the ring" in the next few weeks so that should keep my Girlfriend quiet... at least I am hoping so.   She is really the coolest girl in the world when it comes to me and my hobbies.  I just have to have dinner at her parents once and a while and spend quality time with her a few times a month and everything is COOL.  But she does not have the RING yet.  So I am sure that all of this can change at the drop of a dime.

Well, I have been through it once. (1995) All my gear was stolen out of my boat, but since it was in the boathouse when it happened, it fell under the homeowner's policy. Did I mention, EVERYTHING >;)

Keep in mind that a homeowner's policy normally has a high deductible (mine was $500 on theft). Luckily I am good friends with my agent and he let me create an inventory after the fact. A couple pics or a 30 second video is what they suggested for me in the future. I still haven't done it since I have the same agent.

edited to add:

There are other options for insuring your gear if you want to...  I now also have  "contents"  on my boat policy so if anything happens away from home and also you can get a writer on you homeowner's policy for dirt cheap that covers loss and breakage of covered items.  Depending on your investment, these options may be worth looking into...

roadwarrior -  I'd rather get it replaced and have her mad for a couple days than to lose it all and have her sympathy!!  ;)

My dad had all of his tackle stolen out of his garage one night.  Luckily it was covered under his home owners policy.  It was an exciting couple of weeks as we hit every sporting goods store in the area and pretty much cleared off the shelves replacing his inventory.  The cashier at the fleet farm looked at us like we were crazy bringing up hundreds of dollars of fishing tackle.

The bad thing is you can never replace that lucky lure, or even some of the old baits he had when he was a kid.  You never really realize how sentimental you are with some of your tackle until it is too late.
