hey guys, i was wondering what is the most productive way to fish a fluke.

weightless. 3/0 or 4/0 ewg.

Tx rigged weightless. I also like a double fluke. Get 20" to 24" of line, tie a hook at each end. Grab the line about 6" to 8" from one of the hook ends and do a loop knot. That gives you the point to tie your line to. When you work it the flukes dance back and forth opposite of each other. A good example of what i'm talking about is called a speck rig, look it up. The only exception is speck rigs use jigheads, my version just uses ewg hooks no weight.

how do you fish this?   Cast, let it drop to desire depth,  reel and jerk it, let it fall back down,  reeel and jerk it , rinse and repeat?

I have had better success using a bright color like white  that I can see ,I usually don't let it sink deeper than I can see. Also I have found that heavier lines and  MH rods seem to work best. The posts from above are the correct way to work this bait.

I've had good success with a weighted hook when the bass are feeding.  You can get reaction strikes like no other.  When fishing them on weighted hooks I like to slowly raise my rod tip and then let them flutter down.  The proper weighted hook (depends on size of fluke, just experiment) will cause the fluke to spiral down with a "shimmy".  Deadly.

i suppose i dont fish them often and when i do i do not keep them on long...it seems like i throw them when nothing is catching fish..and they confirm it

when the bite is good, its the last thing i want to throw on.

Thats maybe why....Keep fishing it until you get confidence.

(1)  Weightless near or in vegetation. Work it with short

twitches to imitate feeding minnows.

(2) Dropshot on/in/or near structure or cover.

A local pro here told me to use a 1/4oz scrounger long bill head with a 4inch or 5inch fluke.  He also showed me to use a white fluke and use different colored sharpies to give it different looks.  He said to use a nice slow retrive.

Later,

I fish them using the "jerk" method as well. I change it up a bit by snapping the rod up, reeling the slack, then snapping  downward. Between jerks I kill the bait and let it sink out of site. This will mimic an injured bait fish. You can also use heavier line to slow the fall. I've had some nice topwater strikes with flukes.

I like to rig mine weedless and throw it into the pads or other slop. Let it fall and then jerk back up to the surface. The bass believe it is a bait fish eating bugs off the surface and they will unload on it!

A method I learned on a saltwater forum is to nose hook it with a circle hook. It offers a different twitch.

Weightless all the way, on a Gammy 3/0 EWG.

dont forget.. they also work great on a carolina rig. and on a jig head...and all the other things mentioned here.

I have to agree with this!!!!

Weightless. I fish them over grass and weeds or in slop like a frog. Give it a quick slight jerk, it doesn't take much to move it. Count to 20 so it has sunk and give it another jerk. Sometimes they will hit the fluke while its sitting still.

I've had great luck just Texas Rigging them using a 3/0 sized hook, wieghtless. Twitch the rod tip slightly to make the fluke look like a dying baitfish.

I used the Owner Sled head yesterday,fishing deep weed beds and just crushed them.
