Super Bowl

Recommended Posts

Weather in New York for Super Bowl Sunday is a high of 37* with a 50% chance of rain.

Denver will not have a problem with the cold or rain.

Seattle will not have a problem with the rain.

Going with Denver based on the early weather report.

Who in their right mind in the NFL would allow the Super Bowl to be played in New York in January?

I guess the guy got hit in the head too often when he played.

He didn't play after high school and the "who in their right mind" is Goodell. It's inconceivable that this could happen without his stamp of approval.

Goodell did, I think it was to not discriminate stadiums because they didn't have domes.

Besides, the weather makes it more interesting

I like it being played in the elements.  If you are measuring the best all around football team it needs to be the best team all around not just in domes or good conditions.  I am looking forward to the game and i think denver wins by 2 tds

I think its a refreshing change of pace to see a Superbowl in a cold and open environment. It is football after all.

It would be interesting to see which people are against it and which are for it and what states they are from......

I still think that the best record should have home field in the Super Bowl.....and that includes letting season ticket holders have the ability to buy tickets before anyone else as they support their team all year long and deserve the opportunity to see them on the biggest stage.

It's this thing called money. What better place to capitalize off that than the NY/NJ area! I played football, didn't get to the pros though lol, and I loved playing in the elements (From NJ too). I always felt the Super Bowl shouldn't be played in a dome it should be played outside and since its February and Feb generally is a cold month nationwide NJ/NY area is perfect it's a MAN'S GAME!

Disagree 1000% unless you mean that they have the ability to buy tickets this year at MetLife stadium (which i think that's what you mean). If you are saying game should be played in Denver you are wrong Super Bowl should be played on neutral territory... And studies have shown that more fans rather watch the game in the comfort of their own home instead of dealing with what you have to deal with watching it live at the stadium, me I'd rather be right there in the stadium rain, sleet, snow, or shine.

I was saying that in this case, whichever team has home field advantage they get to have the game at home and their season ticket holders get first crack at the tickets.  I also don't see why only in football it has to be played on neutral territory other than it is a one and done deal even though the playoffs have home field already.....  There should be an advantage for the team with the better record and to lose that advantage just because it is for all the marbles seems strange to me.

The money involved if this has to be rescheduled is staggering.

The weather may be exciting, but the fiscal aspect is an entirely different matter.

i highly doubt this game will be moved unless it is a blizzard.  i have read a few articles though that are stating this is one of the cheapest superbowls to get tickets for in years and that the location while near NYC is just far enough away to annoy people.  I will be watching at home on my couch :)  now if the Eagles ever make another one in my lifetime i may just have to spring for tickets for me, my dad and son.....

Goodell merely does what the owners want.

It's a Super Bowl. Both teams with the best record on a neutral field....I like it. Helps eliminate gray areas on who's the best. Outside.....it's where football started and its cool to brave the elements and let the best team win. They gotta bring their A-Game with bad weather...bad weather cause's turnovers...teams have to adjust and come back. Both these teams are outdoor teams so should be a good game.

Go Seahawks

i agree with all the stuff other than this part....it is very rarely the top seeds that make the Super Bowl.  I believe this is the first time in over ten years it has happened

I think it's an interesting change of pace. I understand the view point of people who want to see the best game possible and don't want the weather to have (potentially) a huge effect on the outcome, but they will still watch it, along with millions of other people. Will there be empty seats? Probably not. Will TV viewers tune away to whatever local garbage is unfortunate enough to be up against the Super Bowl? Nah. Will the half-time show get rained out? Big deal. It's a game so big that the Monday after should probably be a national holiday; I think the NFL would have to deliver a terrible Super Bowl many, many years in a row before it started to see a significant drop in viewership.

Well, we have had plenty of boring games, but it never carries over.

Everyone that's in the hunt the following year gets the hype rolling.

This year we have the potential of a great match-up with the #1 offense

facing #1 defense.

I still think the 49er/Seattle game will be better than the Superbowl.

It's hard to beat a game decided on the last play.  No doubt, that was a GREAT game!

May the best team win, I like them both ...

Should be a close game....

One will win by a field goal ...?

But don't bet on it ... :)

first goodell doesnt just pick the superbowl site himself. there are several cities competing for a SB in a given year, they present their cases, a committee actually pics the superbowl site.

and honestly, i love the idea of a cold weather super bowl. gives fans of different demographics a chance to go as well, instead of the same old cities. its not the first cold weather city to host a SB either, just the first outdoors stadium to host it. besides, regular season and playoff games are played in the cold and the elements, why not a super bowl?
