Yes, I know -- one is mono, one is copoly, but that is not the reason I am comparing these two. These two lines seem to be the most popular of the bulk style of lines, or budget lines if you will.

I've used both, but wouldn't recommend either, to be honest. I thought both had a lot of memory and didn't handle very well, especially for a mono. A little like fishing with weed whacker string.

Big game is tuff line. I use it for top water baits, except frogs. For frogs I use braid.

I love yozuri hybrid for my finesse fishing! I prefer seaguar senshi for monofiliment, great line...

Like the OP stated both are ok for the budget minded angler.  I personally prefer the yz-hybrid because it is a co-poly.  I can fish topwaters like a buzzbait without it sinking too fast. I can also fish spinnerbaits, swim jigs and cranks with the peace of mind that the flouro in the hybrid will work to keep the bait running down.  I've felt that the Big Game is just too tough for me to work with, no matter how much KVD L&L I've applied to it.

While YZ is not my preferred copoly, it is much superior to Big Game for most applications in my opinion. I've used BG many times, and the only time I might use it now is for treble hook baits where a little more stretch is needed. I use copoly exclusively at this time.

Berkley big game is stiff and tough IMO. Is YZH tough and non-limp or is it more limp and smooth-casting?

It depends on the application, for spinning gear and light baitcasting ( less than 8 lbs ) I choose Hybrid because I can use very thin line that won´t jump from the spool nor handle like friggin´ wire , for baitcasting I´ll throw Big Game, the "lightest" Big Game available is 10 lbs, so 10, 12, 17 BG is what I use. In heavily abrassive environment I´ll also use a CXX leader tied to the Big Game.

Raul they make 8 lb BG i have 2 spools .who knows though might not now .its 2000 yds so aint bought none in a few yrs

If you're looking for bulk line that's limp and great casting, look at Hi Seas Black Widow. Otherwise, Yozuri is softer than the Big Game.

I'm not sure whether you specified spinning or casting, which makes a difference.

 

I've used Berkley Big Game extensively in saltwater and also tried Yo-Zuri Hybrid.

They are both wiry lines, and I wouldn't use either one on spinning gear.

If you're looking for limp, low-memory line you might be in the market for braided line,

a leader can always be added to suit conditions.

 

By the way, Yo-Zuri Hybrid IS monofilament' line and compared to braided line,

all monofilament lines are wiry, whether they're made from nylon, fluorocarbon or copolymer.
