Whacked 'em

Basshunter0731 and I fished a power plant lake on Thursday. Was my second time out this year and his first trip of the year and we smoked them. First boat on the water and only 2 other boats showed up. We surely caught in the neighborhood of 100 largemouth, and for sure caught over 100 fish if you count the crappie, white bass, wiper, catfish, and drum. The outlet produced quite a few fish but we found one area in the colder water where they were stacked up and we caught them about as fast as we could get a bait in the water for almost 2 hours. No monsters, a 4lb 3oz largemouth was our biggest, but tons of them in the high 2 pound/low 3 pound range. My home made bladed jigs or Rocker jighead with a beaver bait was best, color mattered very little.

Sure looks cold, glad it payed out :Victory:

Was way nicer than it has been. We've barely made it above 20 for a few weeks now and it got up to 46 Thursday with very little wind so it felt like a spring day almost.

Nice job, and in February no less of a feat.  I bet you can't wait to go again.  Congrats!!!!!!!!!! :respect-059:

Hopefully this Wednesday or Thursday!

That's what was working for us really well. Actually tried something different with them, we were lifting and letting them fall, kind of like helicoptering a spinnerbait. They were really smashing the bait when it was falling back towards the bottom.

It's a power plant lake so until they close the plant down like they will in March it should stay open  :respect-059:  Water temps we were fishing ranged from 60-51 degrees depending how close to the plant we were.

Great day on the water!
