What Will You Use?

Whenever this cold weather abates and you finally get to fish, what are the set ups you'll use?

The first one I grab!

lol

Megabass 110 and whatever it takes to throw it.

Although, we had a warm day on Saturday and I hit a local pond with a jointed rapala, pointer, spro little John and a black neon tube. One hit on the tube and zero fish. Still good to get out.

I have two for ice-out. A blade bait tied on my Browning Midas Boron Matrix 6'6" m/f rod and Daiwa Sol reel spooled with 10lb. FC.

The other is a hollow body swimbait tied on a 3/32oz VMC Drop Dead swimbait hook attached to my most recent rod build (7' M/H Fast) and a Daiwa Advantage 150 spooled with 30lb. braid and 12lb FC leader.

I'll be cranking...  But by the looks of it I dont think thats going to be till May at the earliest....

I used a 7' H Falcon lowrider with a PQ reel, spooled with 30lb PP, Thursday when I did a little bank beating.  I fished a Jika rig with a regular Dbomb in bruiser flash.  I hauled water but it was nice to get out a few hours!

Caught 17 on a swim jig today had a couple come up thru matted up grass and take it off the top it'll get your heart pumping. I feel for you'se guys up there.

Rapala Husky Jerk suspending jerk bait, shallow running Strike King square bill, and Senko .Curado and Lews Speed Spool Tournament Pro, Kistler Z-Bone and Cumara rods, 10 lb tectan copoly line.

Jerkbaits and swim jigs mostly.

going to try my newly built float and fly rigs with some jigs I tied - I'll take one other rig - not sure which yet

Jerkbaits and hair jigs until the water temp hits 50 and then I'll add hollow body swim baits to the mix.

Jerkbaits and grub/jighead.  Walleye, sauger and wipers will be the first fish to hit.  At this rate it won't be til May...I'm going through major withdrawal.

Finesse swimbait, jig and a senko handy from the banks once the ice thaws.

My setup will be a Curado E 7:1 reel with a Gloomis 844c rod.  The bait will be a home made A Rig.  I hope that will be late this week or early next week.

Looks like after a "thunder" sleet and snow storm yesterday, I'll have a 3 day warming trend for this coming Thursday.  14 for a high today and 50 for Thursday.  So uh fishing I will go!

Going to be a jig, jerkbait, and swim jig kind of day!

Jigs, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits usually work the best around here at this time of year.

I caught my first bass this year on a Rapala husky jerk fishing real slow with 7-10 second pauses in between jerks. It was actually the exact same lure I caught my first one on last year too. In addition to that I also have 2 drop shot rigs, a jig set up, fluke, shad rap, and a DT6 on my deck to cycle through if I can't figure them out. I have a feeling the husky jerk and the drop shot will be my go to set ups early on.

My assortment of lures I throw most of the year.

Topwater spooks, props etc. Bps topnocker

Shallow cranks 1 to 3' divers since the weeds aren't up yet.

Deeper cranks in the channel along side the weedline on both sides. Bomber, rebel craws etc.

Inline spinners, mepps, strike king, joesfly etc.

Spinnerbaits, 1/8 to 1/4oz white, or. Chartruse. With the mister twister split double tail grub as a trailer.

Rapala f5 minnow in blue or black.

Rapala 5" jointed minnow. In blue back chartruese belly. I get jiggy with it in the holes. Straight down. Off my low bridge in 10' of water.

As spring warms up its the Carolina rig 1/8 oz. Senko, brush hogs, worms.
