New Rage Tail Baits

Featured Replies

This thread got me excited to try some Rage Tail baits. So far I have caught fish on the watermelon/red and black/blue Craws, as well as on the double header Space Monkey. I have some of the watermelon/red Cut-R worms that I am also looking forward to trying out. I am not too experienced fishing soft plastics but the Rage baits are definitely as advertised in my opinion.

Awesome!   That's the second best news I heard all day...the first being a rod tube arrived with a few sticks from the far East.

  • Um, yes please! I use 'em all, but that Recon is my favorite worm.    Oh, and Gone_Phishin, I believe Blue Craw is one of the colors that the DB will be available in soon. One of my favorites, too,

  • I think the Shellcracker is overlooked as a swimbait. Perfect for lakes that have an abundance of smaller bluegill to feed on.

Why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near? Just like me they long to be close to you! :eyebrows:

I actually started singing out loud.

Now a question, what is this suppose to imitate?

I think the category would be considered "creature bait".

It doesn't necessarily represent any particular forrage.

Without a doubt...the Menace is go to bait in any small lake/quarry fishing trip i'm on...t-rigged or on a finesse jig

The Menace is my go to shaky bait.  It looks like it wouldnt do much but that little guy flat catches fish.

X2!!!!!!!!!

Craw.  I use the beaver style baits as jig trailers, t-rig, jika rig, punchbait, swim jig trailer.  The applications are endless.

I have yet to find a Rage product I didn't care for. This new bait should be a favorite for me as I am a huge fan of baits like the SK Rodent and the RI Beaver.

I would love to see a Rage tail Soft swim bait in a 4 inch size with a paddle tail and a few finesse options for light line applications like a drop shot or split shot rig but I am sure they are on the way or have at least been discussed.

Im really excited about a new rage creature bait myself.

Trying to decide which one i will use between this and the space monkey. They both have similar profiles being 4" with a football shaped body, small arms and bigger flappers on the end.

The action on this new creature bait will be the deciding factor for me. They may have 2 totally different actions that will fill different roles. Here is a comparison picture.

Dont own a single rage tail bait.  Im a Zoom, net bait, lake fork kind of guy. Have considered buying them but never pulled the trigger.

Try a Ragetail Toad, best topwater lure I've ever used.

I was the one who'd roll his eyes frequently whenever I'd see a certain fisherman answer "Rage" to every single question - lol....No more.

I spent 6 hrs fishing each of Saturday and Sunday on three different bodies of water.  Every single fish I caught was on a watermelon Cut-R.  Unbelievable.  One fish under 1.5...all the way up to a PB 6.83.  I only had one package - first time using them.  They lasted extremely well.  And when they were all gone, I thought; "I haven't caught a single fish on anything else - What am I going to do now?"  So, I cut off the hook-worn top of a Cut-R and slid the working portion that was left onto a swim jig head.....and proceded to go back to catching bass.  Unbelievable.  Now I've got a ten pound worm binder full of plastics I'll never touch after I hit TW for Rage stuff.

Now...on the other hand, my wife and I did spend an hour or two in the lily pads and threw frogs - she threw Rage and I tossed an old 'Snag-Proof'.  Neither one of us hooked up, but I had at least a dozen blow-ups and her toad had exactly none.  I don't know which is worse...or better....lol....I either need a new frog or I'm seriously in need of some remedial lessons on how to set the hook using a frog.

Any way, I'm sold....and headed over to TW

  • 3 weeks later...

Any chance we see a Baby DB Craw in the future?

I just received 2 packs of DB Craws this week, I'm going out tomorrow and I'm really excited about trying them. I think I'm going to use them as a jig trailer tomorrow but I know sooner rather than later I'll use them as a flip/punch bait. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up liking these more than the Rage Craw.

The Bug will be available in a couple of weeks.

I have not fished my Cut R worms yet as most of my fish have come on swimbaits/ jerkbaits and traps so far this season. May I ask of the guys fishing the Cut R worms how are you rigging it, size of weight , retrieve etc ? I have a few ideas but I'm curious to what has been successful so far. Thanks

T-rigged, 1/4 bullet weight, tail down.

Let the Cut-R settle to the bottom, then

retrieve slowly, just off the bottom.

  • Super User

Deadly weightless, tossed into cover and slowly twitched and jerked back to boat. And/or retrieved slowly just under the surface. The tail has great action even with real slow retrieve

I recently purchased a pack myself. I am going on a smally/wally trip next month, and I am going to give the DB Craw a thorough workout in our cold waters.

I did use them as a jig trailer on my trip and I got quite a few bites. I was expecting them to have more action than they actually do but they are a very interesting bait none the less. Sometime in the not so distant future I'm going to flip with them and see how that goes. I'm thinking they have "just enough" action to be very effective here, I'm just not sure that I'm fishing them to their full potential just yet but I'm sure I'll find the sweet spot.

Good luck on your trip.

I was  lucky enough to get some of these baits at the road trip. Thanks to Big O and  Jeff.. Now that I know how to rig em

I will start using them soon. Thanks for the tip RW on rigging them.

They are available for pre order at tw!

  • Super User

I see the bug is listed at 3 inches

Dbomb are 4.

Is the bug undersized for a purpose?

Would you all want me to offer a pre order?  It can be easily done.
