Favorite Bait Scent

Featured Replies

What are your favorite bait scents and why?

I used to use various sprays, but I just picked up some Fish Stix. I want to at least try them out; my logic being that since they are a solid (or viscous paste) that it will stay on the bait better, but I could be wrong.

I'm partial to JJ's and Megastrike.  Was turned on to them from this forum.  Tried them last year and never looked back.

I also do carry a Smelly Jelly scent for tubes which seems to work for me.

I've used Bang for a couple of years. I got some a while back for a gift from another fisherman, and it seems to do alright. Probably isn't hurting.

I got a couple of jars of JJ's this year and hope to see my hookups increase :)

We'll see......

Original scent megastrike. Idk why..... Just because.

I'm a big fan of CB's Hawg Sauce. I started using his gel last year (Sweet and Sassy) on my hard baits and was impressed at how long it remained on them.

Fish Sticks is what has worked the best for me.

Pro-Cure Super Gel ~ Trophy Bass.

Kickn' Bass. That stuff is crazy strong! So strong in fact, that I've been able to smell it on a crankbait after an hour of use. I use all three bass scents and try to match the scent to what I'm imitating.

Only two that i use=JJ's and Megastrike!

I use megastrike on baits ive repaired. Never used it on fresh out of the bag baits. Not sure why...

I used to make my own..1 part anise to 3 parts baby oil.

Just got away from it, much easier to just use liqiuid garlic.

But I do want to try Megastrike.

Original Megastrike,

Favorite scent the one that works at that time. I also switch the flavors of scent too when it's slow.

Favorites,

Baitmate Bass,  Baitmate Worm/Crawler, Baitmate Garlic, Baitmate live, Baitmate crawfish.

YUM Shad,  YUM Crawfish, YUM Garlic.

I've tried and used most of them.

I was using a natural plain bass scent and it was very slow. When I switched to the garlic flavor the action picked up. Don't get hung up on one flavor scent that's successful. We change our lures so why not scents too?

i like jj's scent is strong and colors are good but so far this year i've had good luck using my own made from vasaline, coffee and salt.

Another vote here for MegaStrike. The stuff is amazing. Especially when you apply while drop shotting.

Megastrike here also. I take a dab and rub it on my hands before fishing. I did this one time and started nailing slobs. My brother wanted some and I made him wait because he thinks scent does not help. I finally gave him a dab and he started nailing them. This is only on his hands mind you. I was also putting it on my baits. I think the fish might have just turned on but it was really funny.

I don't always use scent attractant...but when I do, I prefer JJ's Magic.

JJ's but since I will be fishing more water with weeds this year I'm going to try some Megastrike in addition to the JJ'S.

Juiced Up Goby and Crawfish are my go to. The Goby scent really helped us catch some larger smallies here St. Clair, this started from day one in the field testing of it.
