I love the MD baits. If you want to save money throw a strike king 3xd.

3xd/5xd is a great bait

 

Little john MD is also one of my favorite mid divers.

The Rebel BIG CLAW crawfish crank dives to ten feet. I cast it out as far as I can in the open channel along side the weedline sweeping back the rod to make it dive to the bottom then by slowly reeling it keeping it on the bottom. Beaware of a last minute strike as it comes up to your rod too. These rebel smaller crawfish cranks are hot in rivers too. Just cast them around larger rocks that have pools and back washes behind them.

Nothing wrong with having your crank swim just off the bottom only occasionally making bottom contact.  I'd say that this is normal way to fish a crank and that a great swimming action is preferred when fished this way.  Rapala baits have fantastic crankbait actions so I'd recommend the DT6 and DT10.  If you intend drag your baits along the bottom by selecting baits that run multiple of feet deeper than the water you fish then stay away from Rapala baits.  The Rapala bills are too thin and flexible to be dragged along the bottom.  They are made for deflection, not dredging.

Both excellent choices. I also like Bomber 7A, Norman Middle N and Brad's Wiggler (the middle size) for medium depth cranks.
