What's Your Tossback Bait When You Miss A Pad/weed Strike?

So you just missed a blow up on a topwater frog or other topwater on lily pads/weeds.

What do you use as a tossback bait, the same lure or do you reach for something else like a jig or senko?

When it comes to Frogs and TopWater I throw the bait well beyond the Blowup point and then bring it right back into that zone the same way before the Blowup. If that does not work I continue that approach just with different retrieves through that strike zone if that fails then a follow up weightless worm gets the call...

I like a large profile plastic, something like a pitboss or a dbomb.

When you guys are using plastics and stuff are they weightless T-rigs? You aren't trying to punch them through?

senko type - for me usually a stik-o

Senko for me also. In pads my go to baits will be a hollow body frog usually a River2Sea or StrikeKing. If I miss one on the frog I'll throw a Yamamoto Senko back in there and a large percentage of the time be able to catch that fish.

Weightless Senko, t-rigged, in a color similar to the one they missed. Doesn't matter what type my first bait was, any missed strike, if I can get the Senko back to that area, that's what I'm throwing back at them.

And is the senko on spinning gear or baitcasting?

I use both I think it's more about the action of the rod not necessarily whether it's spinning to bait casting. I like it on a 7' MF rod

Some type of plastic Texas rigged ;)

Weightless texas rig senko on casting gear.

A senko, or if in thick vegetation a compact creature bait.

Why creature bait over senko in thick vegetation?

Hard to get a weightless bait down there if you are in a really thick mat. The senko works better though whenever possible.

So you're not trolling the senko across the top? You're trying to drop the senko down down into pockets?

The point of the follow up bait is to mimic injured prey. Injured frog or shad is going to sink.
