Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Fishing with little guys is priceless!!

Got out for a few minutes this morning, a rare event for me. Pretty uneventful, figured I missed the morning bite. Decided to revisit a spot that gave me nothing earlier. Dropped a crankbait right on this one's head, as soon as it hit the water she was on. Fought like a champ, 4.1lbs. Had to wade out to knee deep water to pull her out of some reeds.

This is basically the only true access point to this pond without walking around through the woods(which I'm not going to do during snake season).

decided to take a few casts after work and got this 5lb on a black buzzbait on the second cast.

The drive home from work today was eerily quiet. Traffic was strangely light, and for a change the drivers were not speeding or zig-zagging. People must have been trying to conserve gas ahead of Hurricane Irma. Later, at a gathering at our neighbor's house all were nervous, checking the forecast every few minutes: Irma inching ever closer. Most of the neighbors drinking more than usual. Later my wife started moving stuff around our shuttered up house, just to stay busy. I guess I was on edge, too. So, naturally, I grabbed a good rod and some Rage Tail Menace Grubs and headed out to a pond. Only one fish tonight, a feisty 4.2 that smashed the bait the instant it entered the water. As if she saw it coming. That fish will give me something to think about tomorrow and the next day, as the monster approaches.

Got invited to fish at a private lake and the fish made the long drive worth it

All my best wishes to you and everyone in the storms path, that includes some of my family. You all down there have some good practice at hurricanin' and some of the best response people when it comes to this.  Be safe.

Those Florida bass are no joke, every pic you post is a monster.

Yeah @hawgenvy don't think just get out as soon as you can no matter you are in zone a b or c.

You sure that's ONLY 5lbs? Looks like another pound or 2 should be added. Either way "she's a beaut. Clark"

I agree that is a toad

Yesterday morning before work we went to Wally World and I bought a new Z-Man white chatter bait to replace the one I lost Monday. After work I went to the bigger pond by the house and the new baitcaster/white chatter bait/sprayed grass sweet beaver combo did it again. Was the only one I caught but she was in the 3lb range. Liked to never got the hook out. Had to take my pliers and crimp the barb on the hook to get it out. All is good though she swam away just fine. Loving the cooler weather. Hoping it stays like this for a while. I'm on vacation this coming week so I'll be doing a lot of fishing and hopefully a lot of posting pics as long as they're worthy. Not posting any more dinks...lol! ?

Miss getting the boat out on the lake whenever I want, but have to admit these small lakes/ponds are doing a good job keeping my mind occupied. Another bank walking excursion after work tonight. Here's a few...

Wow you're killing em from the bank! Those are some pretty big bass. What you been catching em with?

the scale read 5.0 on the dot so it is what it is.

anytime the scale reads a 5 as its first number ill never be disappointed at a fish i caught.

I need to read up some more and watch more videos on the ned rig. I hear alot about the effectiveness of it, just haven't tried it yet. I guess mainly because I don't have the required tackle and/or lure/bait to rig it.

It is not always the best technique for big fish, but it is hard to beat for numbers.

the beauty of the ned rig is its simplicity.  a medium or medium light spinning rod.

get some mushroom heads in 1/6 oz. (1/15 oz. if you buy z man heads) and a few z man TRD's, .

in a pinch you can cut any stick bait in half and catch fish.

do a search on the web for Ned Kehdes' blog. The bait /technique is named after him.

the technique is actually called midwest finesse. Ned rig is just the bait .

It is an extremely easy and productive technique.

If I am introducing someone to bass fishing the ned rig is what we use.

Today' was a great day! Great morning in New York with  nice 4 lb 7 oz girl.

Man I love fall fishing. Another great day on the water. This one nailed a spinner bait as I ripped it through some grass.

The pitch bite in the reeds is still going on at one of the lakes, had fun getting back on em. Big fish went just under 4 1/2lb.

Didn't do a lot of fishing on my days off this week with the holiday, but I still made it out for a couple shorter trips to avoid the crowds. Took my son out again on Monday, and my parents (Papa and Nana as my son calls them), went along with us so Lake could show them his fishing skills.

Tuesday was just me for a few hours in the morning. I got started off with a bang, sight fishing this one with a wacky rigged 4" stick worm as she cruised the shoreline.
