Will A Black Buzzbait Work During The Day?

Featured Replies

I bought a black Strike King Bleeding Elite serires buzzbait for my next trip which will be mostly at night, but i was wondering if throwing it after sunup would still catch fish.

It will work for a bit in the morning and late evening in the summer months, but in the fall, i have thrown a black 3/4oz buzz bait all day on the Lake of the Ozarks. Just one of those deals where you gotta experiment and see what the fish tell you.

If it were me, and depending on sunny vs. cloudy then I would choose sunfish colored for sunny and fire tiger for cloudy.  You can try your luck with black, but if no reaction after the sun is half way up- switch colors.  run a shore line with your black, if it works, continue...  If not run that same shore line again with something lighter colored.  Keep a rogue set up handy for a missed strike.

Yes it will work.  Just will depend on the conditions for the day.  When it is cloudy and overcast I like a black on black buzzbait.

My favorite spinnerbait for overcast days is a black skirt with a hammered copper Colorado blade.

No reason to think a black buzzbait wouldn't work too.

I killed the bass on a black/red Buzzbait in the middle of a warm sunny day earlier in the season.

My go to Buzzbait color in any conditions

Jack (fishfordollars) Yates secret lure was a 1/4 oz black buzzbait.

I think they'd work. I don't use black buzzbaits, but I've caught fish on black Jitterbugs and black soft plastic toads under bluebird skies as well as less bright conditions, so I see no reason why black buzzbaits wouldn't work as well.

Im a bit of a buzzbait fanatic...I own white and chartruese buzzers, but Black is pretty much all I throw.

Black is one of my best, it almost always works. Heck yeah it will work during the day, especially when it's cloudy.

Yes, it will work. Also get a white one, and those will be the only 2 buzzbaits you need.

I don't think color matters too much on a buzz bait other than in your head.  I have caught fish on black, white, chartreuse and even some that the skirts got torn off at all times during the day and night.

Don't listen to dock talk-Its all just talk- that black buzz bait will work any time day or night -PERIOD
