Hey guys, I am looking to get some rain gear soon. Eventually I will get both pants and a jacket but for now i will just get a jacket. Do you guys have any suggestions? I don't want to spend too much but I want to get something good that will last for a while.

I have the BPS 100MPH gear. Love it!...keeps everything but my fingers dry

However it is a hair loud with the hood up...not bad though

Haven't purchased them yet, but I've been looking at Frogg Toggs. They make rain gear for fishing, hunting etc.

I saw that and it looks great, but is it too warm to wear during a summer rain? I could always layer up underneath a thinner jacket when it is cold.

I have a Frogg Toggs warm weather suite.  It's OK,,,, It wicks water while seated though.  And you have to refresh the water-proofing from time to time.

 

I also have the Cabela's GORE-TEX® Guidewear.  This is by far the best rain gear I've ever used, I've never doubted the suites ability to protect me year around.  All I've had to do for maintenance is to wipe it down with a damp cloth.

 

Don't cut corners on fowl weather gear, it could save your life.

No its not too warm with the insulated liner removed...with the liner in its toasty in the colder weather

Frogg Toggs for me too.  Have my Ranger Boat suit on in my profile pic!  For the price, you can't beat them.  I have had two suits in 10 years.

I've got the BPS 100 MPH stuff and I don't know that it's beatable. Haven't worn it in anything super warm, but I've worn it in the mid to upper 70's but at that temp you aren't roasting. Keeps you warm on the cold days though. I've fished in a few downpours this year with it as well as all day soaking rains and and it has kept me completely dry.

Columbia rain gear for summer and Arctic Armour bibs for winter with a Columbia interchange jacket.  Also have regular Carhardt bibs for winter weather with no rain.

BPS 100mph suit is what I wear most of the time but the Frogg Toggs are great when it's really hot and humid out.
