Taking the plunge from mono to Flurocarbon and could really use some help.  Using a lews tournament mg and duckett micro magic casting rod for small spinnerbaits, texas rigs, Carolina rigs, and the occasional senko.  Fishing Toledo bend where the monsters lurk and Im thinking at least 14lb would be sufficient just need brand recommendations.

Sunline Sniper is the best fluorocarbon for the money IMO. Back your reel with braid and you can easily fill two reels up with one spool.

P - line 100% fluoro.

Go with Sunline as mentioned above, but if you are going to fish Toledo Bend, go at least 16-17lb.on casting reels.  I have fished it before, you never know what you are going to run into there.  (I lived in Alexandria, LA for two years.)

 

Post pictures if you pop a big one.  As well there is a Thread in the Central Fishing Forum area named "So you want to Learn Toledo Bend," it is a long thread, read the last page or two.

 

A-rigs, cranks, and if you get to flipping sweet beavers are really popular there, and D-bombs.

learn to fill your spool part way with cheap mono, then connect your fluoro via the Uni to Uni knot. You can get several spools this way, drastically saving money

I would second invisix and sniper in the under $25 lines. Just back the reel with mono and you can do 2-3 reels.

Shooter and tatsu if money isn't an issue.

I have used all 4 for some time. The differences are there but I really like sniper and tatsu all things considered and am exclusively running those two lines for my flourocarbon outfits this year.

I like Seaguar Red label. Sometimes you can find it at Academy for about $9. Treat it with some KVD L&L and it makes it even more manageable.

I'm a Tatsu fan myself.  But if price is a concern, then Invizx is worth consideration.  It has a little more memory, but still has great abrasion resistance and castability characteristics.

You won't find a better fluorocarbon in the 25$ range than Sunline FC Sniper. Get yourself some 16#.

X2, I've found this line to be fantastic! I've tried SunLine fluoro and while it's a very good line I don't feel that it has any advantages over the P-Line. I will say at this point that I'm a big P-Line guy, I use their lines exclusively except for braid. Don't get me wrong I love their braid as well I just can't buy it locally. I'm very excited to try their new braid that they introduced at ICAST as soon as it hits the streets so to speak.  

 

I prefer the 100% over Halo but it's just a personal preference thing as I've had very good results using it as well. Halo is easier for the angler to see so if you're really into line watching then it may be an option for you.

This year has been absolutely ridiculous! Toledo Bend has been on fire since last spring. I've had numerous days of 25Lbs+ out there this year. Caught my PB back in March, weighed 10.2, and was caught in a tournament. Had 26.52lbs that day. The Bama rig, jig, and 10xd has produced every big fish from there for me.

If you want an abrasion resistant flouro at a good price. Go with Abrazx on the bc gear, Invizx is good but on spinning gear. It is not as abrasion resistant and has to much stretch for this application.

I take TT's reviews with a grain of salt, but in the fluoro shoot out they did, BPS fluoro scored surprisingly well.

Was one of the things that got me to try BPS fluoro. I like it a lot, though my use of fluoro lately is "not much". It is a fine leader line.

X3. I use P-line 100% fluoro 8lb on spinning and 12lb on baitcaster. No complaints.

I love Sniper, I mean I would name my kid sniper if I could. But when you mentioned Carolina Rig I would go with Abrazx. A sinker sliding up and down banging/dragging on rocks, etc. I found sniper got nicked up way more than Abrazx. I'd go 17-20lb Abrazx, it's $20 @TW on sale right now.

I really liked Vicious.  I loved the price, and it casts much better than any others I've tried.  

 

I haven't had the best luck with P-Line.  I didn't like the way it casts, and it seems to hold quite a bit of memory.  On top of that, I kept have my line break!  This could be due to an old spool at the local Sportsman's, but either way it hasn't left a good taste in my mouth.

+1 to this...For $11/spool it's great, especially if you have a ton of setups fill and replace line often.
