Well I'm actually quite proud of myself because I applied all the information you guys gave me in those big bass threads on that day and it paided off.

WRB mentioned fishing around depth changes in the trees so I found a spot with lots of big bass forage like bream and such and it had good depth changes an plenty of cover, so I got out the jig and started moving tree to tree fishing the jig slow. I was throwing the jig out and letting it sink, id let it sit on the bottom motionless then shake it alittle in case a bass followed it on the fall. If a bass didn't get it at that point id start hoping and dragging it really slow back to the boat then rinse and repeat.

Nice fatty. Shees I'll be happy if I break the 3lb mark.

Yea, I agree, ^^ even if you say so, it's always in you're mind, if you're bass fishing...

I kept telling myself the first 5lb bass I catch is getting mounted, someone dropped it off at the taxidermist yesterday morning. I hope it turns out good!!

I didn't get to see what condition it was in when being dropped off. She was in the freezer over night I hope it didnt get damaged... I had her wrapped in a trash bag.

Should of measured and weighed it with a pic and got a cast mount instead, but then again there is probably a crap load of bass that size in that lake.

I would have to do that up here though. That would be considered a Lunker which would also be a breeder so personally I'd release it after pics and measurements. Just like you I would definitely make a trophy for the accomplishment

Congrats!

Awsome fish!

Targeting big bass doesn't mean waiting for hours to get bit. A good ol 10 inch ribbon tail will catch bass all day long 15in and up mostly. I fish for big bass every time out that's it. I'd rather catch one good fish than 20 2lbers

Great Catch! I imagine you'll have many more coming to you whether you are targetting them or not.

Well I'm not done trying to catch big bass! I'm just done trying to solely target the biggest bass in a body of water, I'm gonna go back to targeting that balance between size and numbers...

I've got a feeling you'll be breaking that PB...congrats!

congrats on the PB! your quest isn't over  you just raised the stakes!  was it a good fight?? pulling drag and making some splashing jumps? lol

when i fish my first goal is to catch A fish just to get the skunk off then im constantly on the hunt for big mamma and whatever i get inbetween is icing on the cake for me.

Lol it wasn't much of a fight, I was fishing pads and grass with 50lb braid and a tight drag. So I horsed her away from the pads and she jumped once, right into my net!
