this has to do with where the basic plastic worm has started and now's become . i don't know if all of us use it ,but think 65% of us do. this has so many different styles ,shapes,forms etc... was curious which worm's do you use most and why ? i generally use flip tails,curly tails,and lizards with mostly purple ,red, black color's and texas rigged,split shot,and get decent results . so which do you use and what technique goes with the worm or worm's you choose and when do you use them?( season )

I am a Culprit guy. I use worms a lot, and Culprits are my favorite. I use the Fat Max, 7" and 10" ribbon-tails. I fish them T or C rigged, with a 3/0-5/0 EWG hook.

When want a worm, I generally go with the big Anaconda or Recon worm.

Rare trip that I don't toss a T-Rigged green Senko and/or a green Rage Tail Cut-R on a weighted hook.

When it comes to the minimalistic approach you can do almost everything almost all the time for almost all rigging methods and fishing techniques with one type of worm, for me: 6 - 7 " straight tail worm ( Trickworm, Jelly Worm ) will do the trick. That´s what I know, but of course TheBaitMonkey ( is going to make you purchase a lot of those in different colors ) isn´t going to let you get away with it that easy so with a minimalistic approach ( which of course means you´ll have to purchase a bunch of different colors ) let´s add another worm, for me: 7 - 8" ribbontail worm ( the classic Culprit worm, or SS-UTale worm ).

I have endless amounts of soft baits in tons of colors but since I am always fishing stained water, I am always throwing green pumpkin or watermelon red, or mix of flake, or black and red or black and blue, and in summer I stick with any worm that is 9-12" when hot, but will downsize on tough days and go as small as a 3" grub or hellgramite and often a 3" senko helps get your confidence back and also help establish a pattern by getting strikes and action....

 

I am not afraid to break out my spinning gear and 6lb test and throw a 3" senko on a dropshot...I usually end up catching big fish when I am just looking for numbers anyhow, so I always make sure I am using quality hooks even if they are a small circle hook...

 

You really can't go wrong with any brand as long as you know what it does in the water and how it moves when sitting on the bottom resting...Triple ripple tail worms are awesome for just chucking out in the weeds and letting settle....I have had good strikes after 2-3 min of deadsticking because the tail is always moving and eventually a Bass will swim past a worm put in a place you think Bass travel.

Senkos, Tricks, Powerbaits, tube worms, etc...

Number one worm for me- straight tail worms. Specifically trickworms and roboworms.

After that I would say that ribbon tails and paddle tails are tied.

Nothing beats a good old Zoom U Tail or a 7 inch Power Worm. I do like Rage Tail Anacondas, but the durability sucks and they don't catch any more fish than the Zoom or Power Worms so I stopped buying them. Big fan of Culprit too.

Zoom: u-tails, finesse, magnum finesse, flukes, and the dead ringer series.
