Better yet for every "single" instance where a medical issue arrises there is a pill you can take that should "cure" the ailments. Worst part is that in fixing one issue, you could potentially become exposed to many other new issues in the form of negative side effects associated with the pill(s) you took.

None of the drugs advertised will EVER say the word cure..because they dont..they mask.

and then to add on there are tons of trust funds set up to pay for past ailments that are now being handled in class action law suits too.

Unfortunately the money in the medical world is in treating disease instead of preventing it in the first place. Until we start taking responsibility for our own health (nowhere near that as a society) we'll see more and more pills and mandatory vaccines to treat our chronic diseases and allegedly provide passive immunity despite relatively poor efficacy. Some meds are obviously great as are some proven vaccines for those at high risk, but our reliance on a pill or vaccine to keep us "healthy" is getting out of control. 

If only 1 person had a side effect it's listed, can be scary but it's a good thing, even a simple aspirin has side effects.  As important as the side effect from a particular drug is the interaction of several drugs.

I take diabetic medication, d**n glad I do.  Pretty happy my wife took coumadin, if not she may not be my wife today.

Sometimes the benefits just outweigh the risks.

I agree that we live in a society that wants a pill to cure every ailment, real and imagined, without taking personal responsibility for our own actions. We also live with bottom feeders that are looking to get rich on the backs of the rest of us.

One of the unfortunate side effects of all this is high drug costs. Manufacturers know that there are always unwanted side effects in a small percentage of users and that law suits will follow even if there isn't. They have to price accordingly.

This is all giving me a headache. I better go take something...

Half the time some of the side affects are worse then simply taking the medicine . 

And if you are old don't forget those reverse mortgages; and investing and gold and silver; and on and on and on.

 

That is why I hit the mute button or change channels.

Hey Sam, true story. Once on a Doctor visit, the doctor as usual, asked me if I was taking any medications.

I told him at the time, I was taking ginko biloba. He asked me what it was for. I told him, it is supposed to improve my memory. He asked me if it was working. Told him I didn't know, I keep forgetting to take it.

We are weakening the herd so to speak.   100 years ago or so, before we had a pill or a vaccine for everything that ailed a person, people died, by dying they did not spread as many inheritable diseases.  Now we keep people alive longer and they have children, so they combine their chances of having an inheritable disease, and so on and so on... the herd gets weaker and weaker.

 

Natural selection,   we have taken it almost completely out of the human equation,   good or bad?

Just 50 years ago, I'd have been dead of something that is pretty much reversible with regular treatment.

John, I am a 4 yr. Prostate cancer survivor, my wife is a 27 yr. breast cancer survivor.

My daughter is a 39 yr. ewings sarcoma survivor. She lost her left leg, but she is still here.

First diagnosed when she was 7 yrs. old. Lost her leg at 10 yrs. old. Thank God for doctors and research.

I propose that it is natural selection that has brought us to the place where our life expectancy has dramatically increased and our quality of life is far better than it has ever been. It is intellect that has been rewarded by the selection process, and civilization is the result.
