I read this post on my way home from work and ran over to the local dicks a couple minutes before closing to see if I could score a deal myself.  Found a quantum energy pt bait caster, originally stickered at 190, on sale for a 100.  Asked the guy in the fishing dept to run the sku for me and he said the price is already clearly marked.  Asked him to check it again.  The guy just looked at me when he checked the gun and asked..'how the h3ll did you know that?'  Walked out with the reel for less than $40.... I may have ran to my car.

Like was said, prices ending in .97 are clearance.  Clearance sometimes gets huge discounts.  When the new Curado G hit the shelves, I was able to buy a couple dozen Es for $75 and Citicas for $50.  Gotta keep your eyes open, and ask for price checks.

Well, I too, went to Dicks today after work and scored the crucial 6'8" MH/F worm/jig rod! Its snowing here and im buying rods, for 45 after tax, can you seriously turn that down? No way!!!

Makes me feel good to have spread the word!

I went up to the girl and was like, "Weird question, even though theres a price on here can you just scan it for me and let me know what it says?" She looks at me funny, laughs and was like "Ok!", then while she has a surprised look on her face then says the price and im like, " Sweeeeet!!! Thank you!"

Their selection was only 6'8" MH/F and 7'2" MH/XF Worm & Jig, bunch of each, another dicks location by me had the 7' MH Crank Rod, I have a 3rd Dicks near me but its a smaller one and I did not check if they had any. They probably dont but you never know. I guess im lucky to have 3 within good distance from me.

Swung by my Dick's.  Was a little hesitant to ask for a price check as the tag on the Crucial was $129.99, marked down from $149.99.

 

Low and behold it rang in at $42.48.

 

Think I might pair it up with one of those Lew's SS1's from TW...

Well.... I ended up going back to find a couple more deals, and found a whole lot of those 'can't walk away' situations.  

 

Total damage:

I know the sticker prices don't mean much at this point, but I'm extremely pleased.  Don't need to 'stock up' on gear for a little while.  

 

Only issue is that the line feed on the quantum doesn't work, so I'll need to send that in for service, which i'm more than okay with.  Hopefully it's not too much of a hassle.

Basically there is nothing printed anywhere stating these mark downs? You have to go to the register and check to see if the items are marked down? Is this only for rods and reels or is this applying to baits as well?
