I Hate Apple/macintosh !

Recommended Posts

For ages I´ve been an HP/Windows kind of guy, a couple of weeks ago my uncle gave me his old MacBook Pro laptop because he purchased a new one, I hate this thing ! I just don´t understand how this thing works, I´m all messed up; can´t find anything, does things I don´t ask expect it to do, I think I´ll leave it to my kids and I´ll stick to my HP mini with Windows 7 ( I hate windows 8 too ).

That's the great thing about Macs, they don't work like PCs, they actually work!  Take 5 minutes to read the instructions.

I made the switch from Windows to Mac a few years back.  There is a definite learning curve, as the systems look and act differently.  Once you get over the "what the ll is 'Safari? All I want is Internet Explorer phase, it gets better.  There are pros and cons to both Windows and Mac.

I'm not an "Apple Guy" by any means.  I hate their phones, ipads, ipods...all of that nonsense.  But their computers really are great.  The first Macbook I bought was in 2007, and my fiance still uses it today.  It runs like it's brand new.  I'd suggest sticking with it for a bit longer!

I use both.  I have a pc at home and both a mac and pc at work.  They are each different tools for different things (at least at work).  Just give it time and it will be easy to figure out.

First thing with a Mac, no control panel.  They have just simplified it, in their terms.  Bad thing is, if you have a problem, you are stuck restarting a mac instead being able to fix or find the problem with a PC.  With that said, most macs I have used over the years are more stable and last longer.

I use my PC for everyday things, like email, internet, and watching videos.  My Mac is for using design software.

I had an Apple since about 1983, not likely to change now.    :)

Yes it is different, but different does not mean bad. I just purchased my first Apple product, a MacBook Pro. Sure it takes me a minute to figure out things sometimes, but it has been worth it. The thing just plain works, no fighting to get new things installed, or printers to connect. Boot up and wake from sleep are amazingly fast. Even my non-tech wife grabs it now over the Windows 7 or Windows 8 laptops.

Give it some time. I felt the same way when We bought our first Mac in 2007. I have a 2008 MBP that runs as well now as it did when new. What I like best about Apple's OS is when you plug a camera, printer, etc. into it, IT WORKS. We have 4 Mac computers in our home & have never caught a virus.

Don't get me wrong, Mac's aren't perfect, and are expensive, but are a step above Windows machines with respect to their hardware quality and user interface. Stick with it and learn the keyboard shortcuts.

ADD: We run Windows OS on our machines (almost flawlessly) through Parallels software too.

I had Macs at my office and home when #1 son said to get all PCs as everyone was using PCs and they were not reading the Mac programs.

So I did what he said to do.

My opinion:  PCs suck and Mac's are great.

If Mac's were not so expensive I would have them at my office and home once again.

As they say, "you get what you pay for". Macs are more expensive, but they are worth it.

I made the switch this spring when my PC died.  After 19 years of using PCs,  I struggled a bit with my new Macbook Pro Retina but now, I wouldn't have anything else!  I can't see myself EVER going back.

I highly recommend the appropriate David Pogue "Missing Manual" series book for your operating system.  A great resource....

Tight lines and Happy New Year,

Bob

About 18 months ago, when i started taking classes again, i needed a new laptop. I have an iPhone and an iPad 2 and love them both so i figured i would get a mac laptop....went with a macbook air and to make a long story short, i know have all mac products and don't see any reason to change that.  My favorite two things though are the airport time capsule and the iMac.  they are flat out awesome....

'Windows 8' was a fiasco, about as good as 'Windows Me'.

It's my understanding that Microsoft may trash 'Win 9' and skip to 'Win 10'.

BTW: I'm also using Win 7 on a Hewlett Packard  (good ride).
