I have read a lot about line management and it seems like when you get down to the 1000 size, a lot of guys use them with braid. As a rule these reels will take 2/4/6 # line (mono). I am basically a mono guy but I do not want any line management problems if I drop down to the 1000 size reel. Loops, line twist or whatever. I have 2500’s right now with no line management problems at all.

15 Pound Braid should be fine.

I use Shimano Stradic 1000FI reels for my 

bass spinning setups. Absolutely love them.

 

I have caught numerous 6-7 pound bass on

these, too. I spool all my spinning reels with

10 pound Power Pro, and always tie a leader.

 

These are great reels, plenty of heft to bring 

in beasts stuck in salad, too.

 

I used 4-8 pound copoly lines in the past on 

these. Braid is SO MUCH better to manage 

it isn't even a question in my mind now.

Pretty much what darren said. I only use 10lb braid as well on 1000's. 6lb copoly/mono would be the heaviest line id use on a 1000.

Braid and a leader is the ticket.

 

 

 

I use 4lb Super Natural, or 4lb Tatsu, on my 1000 sized reels. Haven't had any issues yet. Have a spool of 4lb Sniper, but I haven't tried it yet.

1000 size is ultralight territory. 2 or 4# mono or equivalent diameter braid should work fine.

10 or 15 pound braid with a leader of 6 pound fluro should suit you fine.

Lol no I'm just saying its incredibly hard to tie knots with tiny diameter fishing lines.

x3..I have 1000 Stradic FJ with 10lb PP braid.  Don't recall having problems ever.

I never have problems with my 45 year old eyes, though

sometimes reading glasses would be nice

 

It is quite easy to tie Albrights or uni-to-uni leader knots

with PP 10#. My leaders go up to 15# test.

I use 6lb copolymer without issue.

I like lighter spinning rods. 1000 size spinning reels are my favorites.

 

I use 4-6 lb mono, 6-8 lb fire line, and 10 lb power pro for different species in different situations. I rarely had any line management issues.

This time of the year with the cooler weather and less humidity my hands get slippery, I'm using a duolcok.  Once the weather warms up I'l be back to tieing direct to my lure.

I am a mono guy. I have tried braid and always end up burying it in the crease of one of my fingers and "boom" nice cut. I got a bunch of good braid suggestions in case I want to try it again.  Any suggestions on a good "limpy" mono for a 1000 spinner?

Yozuri hybrid is really manageable in #4&6, as well as, cxx #4&6, cx, is very manageable all the way up to #20 IMO.. Maxima line, Triplefish, all of these lines are manageable in low llb test, as well as still maintaining much of their "inherent characteristics" I've used these lines above, and believe you will have great success with any of those.. If I were to recommend just one, Yozuri Hybrid..

4lb Senshi or Super Natural are great on 1000 reels. They're actually 4lb, rather than 8lb labeled as 4lb.

Berkley Trilene XL in 4 or 6 pound test is a good option and it won't break the bank either.
