Kansas Fisherman

Featured Replies

Been a member for awhile now and never managed to introduce myself..My name is Anthony Preston.  I grew up in SE Kansas in a small town called Hallowell.  I live nearly in the middle of a fisherman's paradise with a number of strip pits being only miles from my house.  Fishing the pits is a great way to learn any technique you could apply on a big lake.  There are pits that are as deep as sixty feet as well as those that are fairly shallow so I have learned to fish both with great success...Any spare time or money I have goes towards fishing.

It's great to be a part of this wealth of information!

Is anybody else ready to catch those fat pre-spawn girls?

Greetings Anthony and Welcome to the forums :)

Hi Anthony. I've been to Bone Creek once but haven't had the chance to fish the pits yet. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum! If you haven't checked out the KC area thread, I highly suggest it. Several of the guys on there get down to the pits, Bone Creek, Big Hill, Cedar Creek, and Ft. Scott a few times every year. Always good to have reports from all over the area too if you feel like offering reports from down that direction. You can also feel free to check out our get together thread and join us for our area meet and greet fishing get togethers, usually have at least 2 every year.

Welcome from a fellow Kansan now stuck in Missouri. I'd love to get back down to Bone Creek some day. Fished a paper tournament there years ago and caught slayed 'em. Unfortunately, one competitor slayed 'em slightly better, but it was a good weekend.
