Cool Soft Plastics

Featured Replies

Hey all, I was wondering if anybody knows of any cool soft baits. I have recently found the Mann's hardnose snake, which looks AWESOME. It would work great in a little swamp near my house. Any other suggestions? Preferably realistic lures, like lizards, frogs, snakes, baitfish, etc.

JDM softbaits are cool.

cool, effective, and costs a boatload of dough.

Yeah, TW just got some of those in. The hairy hawgs are $15 for five. Expensive as hell

The New Jackall Scissor Comb is a cool looking bait that I want.

I also like the Arky bug fry little drop shot bait..

If you like soft baits that work that not everybody is using, you can't go wrong with stuff from Power Team, they make all great baits, Megastrike has that bug for flipping that is really good and doubles as a topwater after the rain for me, and don't forget to go simple...4" curly tail worms in black chartreuse tail...especially in spring.

Might have something you're looking for.

I just picked up some new Storm swimbaits. I have been wanting some that resemble small bluegill and other baitfish and that is precisely what Storm is targeting and they were on sale at my local Walmart-

Storm has produced a nice variety and I'm gonna stock up on some of these...

Dahlberg frog and Dahlberg craw. Great looking baits and concepts but they dont work as advertised for me nor have I landed anything on them.

The flying lure was sort of cool for being a lure that had uniqe action.

Doug Hannon has a whole mess of soft plastic surface snakes you can buy online.

JDM baits have great finishes if you are into life like lures. Most of them have better components and actions from their harbaits to softbait lines.

What color of Flash are you using?

Just out of curiosity

I just had a chance to fish the Scissor comb this weekend.  I caught a few with it, and it didn't fall apart as easily as some other soft plastics.  One thing that was really cool to see is that the legs up and down the side flickered really fast as it was being retrieved.  When I paused and let the bait drop down the tentacle like arms stood up and waived around with the waters movement.

It's definitely another arrow in the quiver.

What do you fish the Scissor Comb on?

jackall chunk craw and sausteki craw are my favourite soft baits. the hudd bug is very realistic though

I was throwing it on a 6'8" St. Croix LTB Medium/XFast, Daiwa SS SV, 30# Daiwa J-Braid, and a 12# leader of Invisix.  Texas rigged on a 4/0 hook and an 1/8oz weight.

Brands like Imakatsu, Ecogear, Jackall and Fish Arrow have super cool soft baits.

I like nose hooking a hawg shad from fishbelly on a drop shot. They're pretty cool.
