Size And Line Type

Featured Replies

What do you guys think is the best type and size line for soft plastic for both open water and semi heavy cover (Wood).

Thanks

For me, 12lb Abrazx Flouro for the abrasion resistance and slack line bite detection.

20lb Braid with a fluoro leader.

20lb Braid with a fluoro leader.

X2...usually 14-16 lb leader

20lb Braid with a fluoro leader.

For me it would be this for a spinning rod...

12# - 15# Floro for baitcaster

I fish 3 types of flourocarbon for jigs and soft plastics. They are Tatsu, Shooter, and Sniper. Shooter has the best abrasion resistance and is slightly more sensitive but doesnt handle as well as the other two. Tatsu combines handling, abrasion resistance, sensitivity, and longevity in one. Sniper is similar to tatsu but a notch or two below it in the same categories. Pick the best you can afford and dont forget to use backing to maximize your line mileage.

If cost is not a major concern, Tatsu #6 for spinning tackle, #15 for baitcasting gear.

A great line that most guys like is Yo-Zuri Hybrid and it is inexpensive.

10lb braid ... No leader ....

16 lb PP braid with 14 lb Bass Pro XPS Fluorocarbon leader

12-15lb Seagaur RedLabel is what ive been using.

15lb fluoro for me.

Same for me.

15# YZ hybrid for me.

If spinning, 10lb Power Pro + 10-15lb leader (for timber).

Casting, only change is 20lb Power Pro, same leader.

And the leader will be either Yo-Zuri Hybrid (10,12), P-line

Floroclear (15), XPS fluoro (10,12).

I agree with the 12# - 15# flouro AbazX.  12# with a 6'9" M/F rod I usually can get away with.

12lb to 14lb
