Went out today and caught a three-and-a-half pound bass! First fish of the near year was a beaut.

It's been too long since my hands have smelled like bass.....it's a gooood smell.

Nope, I only had my cheap trackphone that I use for outdoors with me, which won't upload pics to the internet. It was 19 inches and 3 1/2 pounds on the scale. It had a bigger head but wasn't that fat. Biggest fish I'd ever seen in that pond. Caught her on a 5-inch junebug dinger, texas rigged. Just one more reason to love senkos!

What state

NC

Nice fish from the sounds of it, nothing better then that first pull of the season, be it a dink or lunker.

1 down.  9999 to go before 2016.  right?  i hope so.  awesome catch man.

Thanks. After all the times I got skunked, I would have been happy with a 10 incher. Instead, I got blessed with the second biggest bass of my life.

Yes, they are waking up. (under the ice)

Yeah I went out to a pond behind my house after work and caught a decent one one a 1/2 oz war eagle spinnerbait. It sure was awesome having some nice weather, but the wind was KICKIN' on my side of the state lol

It snowed yesterday and it's 9 degrees outside right now. I'm thinking maybe not  :sleepy2:

Glad you got out and caught one though.

It was too hot here yesterday, like 84 degrees sunny and no wind...

I sincerely hope the last half of March is warmer allowing all of us to hit the water.

You can only organize your tackle so many times before you start going crazy.

It got up to seventy/eighty yesterday, now it's raining like heck and we're supposed to be back into the 20s/30s and sleet.

Good report - thanks.

The fish where I live never know what to do in spring either. We usually get a huge flood right when I want to be pre spawn fishing.

What have you been doing? I would expect you to have caught something by now :D

Everything is frozen, right now the ice is slushy and too thin to fish on, but still preventing me from fishing. I tried to catch a fallfish in a river this week with ice chunks floating around to no avail. Big plans for Saturday and Sunday so I should have something to report.

I had been picking away at the cold water fish up until the winter went from mild to harsh in February, so when this ice checks out I should be able to get after them again.

The fish are getting pretty active around here now, my wife caught her pb today in a small creek behind my house. And naturally I didnt bring my scale with me, so I don't know the weight but it was a nice one. I never would have thought there was a bass that size in a creek that is barely 10 yards wide at the widest spot! I will be carrying that scale from now on haha
