Flipping Rod

Featured Replies

Phenix Super Flipper unless the bite is light then I go with something else like a 7'6" M1 Heavy or even 7'.

I don't do much flipping, but I do pitch a lot.   In heavier stuff I use my megabass xx perfect pitch.

I have a 7' 6" MH/F St. Croix LTB and a 7' 6" Pinnacle DHC5 MH/F that both work really well for all but the heaviest stuff.

DX795 is the best flip stick I've ever fished. Period.

I've got a new one this year a 7'1" MH/F St. Croix LTB and my old one is a 7'6" H/F Quantum Tour PT.

7'11" heavy-action Quantum Tour Hackney flipping stick ~

Dobyn's DX 795 and DX 746.

It all depends on the cover you're going to be flippin' in. I like to punch mats, so I got a 7'8" Xtra Heavy Denali Rods Kovert series rod.. and I absolutely love it...!

I have two:

for lighter cover and lure weights

Okuma TCS series 7'6" H MF/F, 15lbs Seaguar InvisX fluoro, Lew's Tournament Pro Speed Spool 7.1:1

for the jungle

Castaway Skeleton 7'6" XH/F, 65lbs Spiderwire Stealth braid, Tatula Type-R 8.1:1

My favorite rod to flip and pitch with is a Dobyns 795dx...  I put a Tatula Type R on it last year, it's worked great for me and I can't believe the price.  70lb braid is what I finish it up with.

7'11" veritas > 7.1 quantum pt tour> 65#PP braid.

I've actually got quite a few options, for the last 5 or 6 years I've been using a Powell Max 7105 which I really enjoy. It's been the rod I've flipped/punched with more than any of my other rods by a wide margin.

I've been really considering getting a new Max 3D 806 lately due to how much I've enjoyed my 7105.
