20 Lb Floro..

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about trying 20lb floro for close in, hand to hand combat.

Not for punching matt's of course, but for pitching in isolated areas of heavy to scattered grass, reeds etc. Useing jigs, creature, soft stick baits etc.

Been useing 50# lb braid and always have, doing fair, but I'm looking to change up a few things and thought I'd start with my line.

It'll be either Berkley 100% or Sniper

Any of you guys do the same?

Mike

Keep the braid and use a 3 foot leader of 20# fluoro---///best of both worlds

You're right of course I thought of that, but I would rather not use a leader for throwing in cover.

It's just something I don't have confidence in doing.

I have multiple rods with 20lb flouro for this purpose and spinnerbaits/chatterbaits in the heavy stuff. Works great for me, I am using Abrazx, no experience with the two lines you mention so can't help there.

Abrazx 20lb is practically bulletproof if you decide to go for it.  (Coming from a Sniper fan)

The last time I used 20lb flouro it was very springy and caused a lot of headaches. I'm sure it was because it was Red Label.

Now I use 65lb braid with a 20lb flouro leader, alberto knot, lightly dip the knot in some superglue, and I've broken/straightened hooks without breaking the leader.

I use sniper in #20 on my heavy pitching rod. It works very well.

Used 20# Invizx with no issues.  Switched to braid though.  Love it.

I use 25lb sniper for pitching. It handles great!

I'm looking too. I want 20-25# Flouro. I may try P-Line and Sunline. I'm also going to try braid with a leader. I'm keeping an open mind.

Stepping out of my almost old fart bubble.

I use 20lb fluoro on my big jig rod almost 100% of the time.

I use 20# P-line floroclear for leaders in fresh and saltwater, my memory does not recall ever having the leader or knot break, or bend a hook.

Sometimes pulling a good sized bass up a high bank, especially loaded up with some salad, I get a little nervous, so far so good.

Thanks Fellas I feel better ;)

I'll start with the 20 as I'm going to use either an Allstar ASR or a Fenwick Techna AV rod. Both have a max line spec of 25lb and don't want to push it.

Thanks for your opinions

Mike

sniper treated with KVD L&L is great. Just make sure you reel up any slack before a hard hook set. I've snapped Fluoro a few times because I didnt. Even snapped leaders while the knot held. Fluoro just doesn't like the big shock, but it does make an impressive sound when it snaps like that

Right now I'm using 50# braid for my big worm setup. I've got it on a 7' Lightning Rod Shock. I given thought to switching to straight 14# Fluoro and am kinda thinking it might be unmanageable and that the Shock's soft tip would not be sensitive enough... Thoughts?
