I've Never Caught A Bass... Central Illinois

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Brand new to the forum, and brand new to bass fishing. I'm not sure where I caught the bug, but I am determined to catch a bass. Once I sink my teeth into something, I become pretty obsessed. For some reason, it's bass fishing. I'm hoping you guys will be a great resource for me to get started.

I'm located on the great University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus. I've already read from this forum there's a great community out here! Excited to learn and get started.

Welcome Slappin',

You've not caught a bass and you're still obsessed?  I'm not sure if I should applaud or worry about you.  I wouldn't sell the farm to buy bass gear just yet but I don't see how or why your obsession couldn't become permanent and, perhaps, even increase in intensity.

I work at the illustrious UIUC and live less than ten minutes from campus.  If you want, PM me and I can probably put you on some fish without much great effort.  You have a fishing license, I assume?

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

A-Jay

I'd say bass fishing is as good an obsession to pick up as anything else.  There's no fish on the planet I'd rather fish for.  I've lurked on this forum for quite awhile, it's definitely a great resource.  Hopefully your experience with bass fishing will be everything you're expecting it to be.  I certainly think it will be.

Greetings and Welcome to the forums :)

Welcome to the forums! The people here are incredibly knowledgeable and if you are having difficulty figuring it out on your own, this forum always seems to be ready to help.

Before this forum I could only catch <1lbers and had no idea how to hook fish on a frog. That was a year ago. I got some fantastic info from here and now I'm absolutely hooked on frog fishing, and with the help I got I managed my PB and my runner up PB.

Get ready for the exciting adventure that is bass fishing. :D

I'm also new to the forum, but love bass fishing. The way I started out is by using cheap trick worms (Zoom, Bass Pro Shops, etc) and after mastering the trick worm, I continued to use soft plastics until I was comfortable and experienced enough to try other kinds of lures, so that's how I'd recommend you start out to "test the waters" and see if you actually like fishing and are committed to it.

Best of luck!!!
