I have always held my buzzbaits out the window of the truck on my way to the ramp just to make sure they spin freely and maybe even this wobble will wallow out the blade hole a little...

plus it ensures a smooth spinning blade with no spurs......BUT I would like to know how to make them squeak..??    down thru the years I have only a couple that would squeak and I never knew why ,

but they always seem to attract more strikes..!!....So give up your secret to make them squeak...!!!.....thanks

Crimp the rivet so it doesnt turn with the blade. Also  bend the rivet and blade  to get the most surface area as possible touching. After use that can be bent to where just a small part of them are rubbing together .

I crimp the rivet down with needle nose. I also take a small file and rough up the top of the rivet. I've heard of people zip tying them to their car antenna for a day or two.

Go up to the Megastrikelink on the right, put a Cavitron in your cart, and check out.

Take a steel rivet and soak it in a salt water solution for a few days. Take out and replace the aluminum rivet with the salt soaked one. Let it rust/oxidize more as you use your new sqeaky buzzbait.

 

You did file some grooves in the steel rivet before you put it in the salt solution, right? I thought you did.

Boo yah buzzbaits squeak right out the package.

Another good way to get a buzzbait to make a lot more racket is to take a pair of vice grips and clamp the bait down. Then set it directly in front of a box fan, or any fan left on high. Leave it for as long as you like, Till you get the sound like you want.

crimp the rivet so it can't move.....then take a sharp knife and score a line in the rivet face all the way across the bearing face on each side of the rivet.....now score two lines on the part of the blade that bears against the rivet, both sides of the wire as well. Not on the wire, but the two surfaces that rub.  Will certainly squeak and easy to score again when smoothing down.

I zip tie a mouse on as a trailer.  They squeak pretty good.  Up to a point, anyway.
