Fishing a squarebill Thursday, wasn't surprised to catch a drum, but how in the world does one eat a squarebill this deep!

I had one do it one day, thought I'd never get the hooks out since the crank was taking up all of its mouth.

Wow, she got her lips around that thing!

This one was dreaming big apparently. If I could just manage to catch one on topwater I don't know if I'd have anything else to shoot for in my fishing career.

Salt water drum are not sheepshead. Saltwater drum are a family of fish that include redfish, black drum and spotted sea trout among others. A saltwater sheepshead is a completely different fish, and is called that because it has huge flat smiling teeth that look just like a sheep.

Goes to show that no matter what we think will work, won't work..

When to throw what, where, or how...

We really don't actully know what will hit what!

So HOW did you get that crankbait out of it's mouth?

A man can dream.....

Well played Sir

So HOW did you get that crankbait out of it's mouth?

I'm assuming at that point he chopped it's head off and pushed the crank on through.  No possible way of getting that back safely.

If so, I hope he fried it up with a little butter & garlic.....

Amazingly enough, it came out very easily. Only one point on the front hook was in the fish, the whole back hook was swinging freely. I popped one hook out and slowly removed the bait.
