Quantum Exo PT bait caster

Featured Replies

BaitMonkey bit me. Saw this reel on sale for $99.99(retail $270-299) in Cabelas bargain cave online.

Had a $75.09 gift card so I pulled the trigger. Typically have Shimano casting reels. Thought I'd try something new.

Anyone have this reel/any experience with it? 99% of the reviews I've seen are good.

Thanks in advance

But... isn't it too late to ask if you already purchased it?  j/k  I couldn't resist!

Seriously I've never used one but have a friend who has 4 Exo baitcasting reels and loves them.  Sounds like you got a heck of a deal for only $25 out of pocket!

I bought one during the same sale.  Never been a Quantum fan for casting reels, but heard some good reviews I trusted so went ahead and took the plunge.  Got it a few weeks ago and have fished it about a dozen times.  GREAT reel so far.  Aside from my Core and Curado 50s, it is the best caster of my BC reels (that inventory includes numerous Curado and Citica E, Curado and Citica D, 2 Curado I, one old Curado B I held onto, 2 Lew's Speed spools, a lew's tournament MB, Ardent Apex Elite, etc).  Only mentioning this for frame of reference -- in other words, I'm not stacking the EXO up against junk.  Really smooth, casts great...so far I like everything about it.  Only caught a few small fish on it so far, but performed like it should.  Obviously time will pose the real test, so we'll see.  I think for the price you paid you'll be super happy.

I have 4 EXOs and love them.

Never handled one before so can't comment.  You did get a great deal though!  The only knock I had about quantum was the palm ability they always felt bulky for me but the energy pt I had was super smooth.

Ive got one. Ive actually got 3 different quantum bait casters the EXO being the best.. They are back ups and loaners for me but they aren't bad. For that cost it will definitely be worth your money..

I think they get a bad rap when in the end, they are tough and take a beating.

I picked one up and really like it, and for $99 its a great deal. My only complaint is with the side plate, i find the design to be a pain.

I contemplated getting one. Not sure if my local store has one in stock though. Don't need one but $100 is $100 bucks lol

Thanks for the replies, all!

EST delivery is Thursday, and I've got a trip planned Friday to fish a fun lake. I'll be able to break her in and let people know what I think!

I looked at one at Cabela's on Friday...nice reel, looks like an absolute steal for $100.

Only one problem for me: Right hand crank only.

The USPS misplaced the package.... I had to fish yesterday without it.

Still looking forward to getting my grubby paws on this reel. Hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer.
