Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone makes Ned rigs with worm hooks specifically made to Texas rig?  I need something very weedless and have been using de-skirted jigs with brush guards, but I want a lower profile.

Use a 1/0 round bend hook and use a pegged weight in your choice of size.  

I use a 1/0 VMC offset worm hook, and peg the 1/8th Oz sinker with a bobber stop.  Those hooks hold the TRD pretty well. 

Owner Ultrahead finesse jigs in 1/16oz/#1 are the best common jigs I have found, Decoy Nail Bomb in the same size seem to hold the plastic better but I can only find them on eBay.  

they both have a slightly worse hookup ratio then a small jig, but they are better in that you don't get as many tiny panfish as by catch.  

Z-Man has a shroomz hook with a little wire guard. Not exactly T-Rigged, but more weedless than the normal ned rig. I have a pack, it doesn't seem to get in the way of setting the hook and I don't get hung up nearly as much.

For a size reference. No modifications needed. Anyone with the smaller swinging football head mold can pour them.

I just use a regular t-rig set up with a 1/0 EWG hook and a 1/16 weight.  I peg the weight depending on how much vegetation there is.

Also could use Slider heads.

Do you leave the wire guard as is, or spread the two wires out horizontally. I have tried both ways and seem to loose more fish either way versus the regular shroomz head. It feels like I get a solid hookset but when i get then to the boat they seem to shake the hook 75% of the time.

Another idea : A size #1 or #2 Gama EWG hook with 1/16th oz. pegged bullet weight .

I snip one wire off because I felt two was overkill. I snipped it before testing it out with two, so never had the experience of losing fish with the two wires... The single wire does not seem to affect my hook up so far, but I haven't used it enough to say for sure.

I use these 1/16 oz with a #1 Mustad hook. Not really a NED rig but they skip and work great.

I have found the best way to Rig the TRD's weedless or half a Zero or Zinker is to use a Saltwater grade hook so it will not bend if on heavy line. Trokar Makes a Boxer Jig that is for saltwater sold in packs of 3 for like $7 but often on sale at Dicks. They come in 1/16 and all the sizes you want, hooks are not thick which kills the action, but the hooks are sharp, strong and you can button down the drag on that jighead (the smaller the bend or hook size less it will bend) and it needs super glue or you go crazy.

The other way is to simply rig it on a strong Flipping Hook like VMC makes in size #4 and crimp a Bull Shot in 1/32 or 1/16 shaped like a bullet weight. You can tie a loop knot to the hook, leave the split on the hook or just like a texas rig and you get better action. I actually do just as well with a small piece of any worm, as I do with the Z-man baits. I think any small plastic will work if you get the right fall rate and it lands in the right place.

Saltwater Mushroom rigs usually have hooks too thick but the higher the quality from Owner,Trokar etc...the thinner the guage you get away with.  Hope that helps. 

Next time out I'm going to try the Chicken Rig with a 1/16 oz nail weight rigged wacky style.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Now that I am looking at it and feeling the wires, two does seem like overkill, maybe causing leverage against the hook.
