Gonna vent on this one. If steelers coaches don't work on teaching the fundamentals of football and how not to get penalized its gonna be a long season. If it wasn't for a T.J. Watt interception, a series of penalties would have made this game a lot closer than it is. 13 penalties for 144 yards...that is sad.

 Following your logic, Adam Vinatieri is a great Colt, but not a great patriot.  He has spent more years in Indy than in new england.

His performance in philly far outweighed his performance outside philly.  I am pretty sure he had nearly double the amount of sacks and tackles.  If that doesn't mean he "played" for philly then i am not sure what to tell you.  He was also the anchor for the greatest single season defense of all time.

I am giving him the opportunity to either elaborate on the claim or give it a disclaimer.  Those two defenses I listed are generally considered two of single season best in the last 30 years or so and I was curious as to why he considered that Eagle defense to be better.

yes sir.  Unfortunately they were plagued with 6 different starting QBs and still managed to win 10 games and not make the playoffs.  They are still the only team to leave the league in both passing and rushing yards per game.  Unfortunately one of the key player on that defense was killed the following offseason, Jerome Brown, and they were never the same after.

That was a good article, it is always difficult to compare teams from different years because of the differences in the opponents they placed, but that seemed pretty fair.  I guess I give a bit more credit to the teams like the '76 Steelers, '85 Bears & '00 Ravens because they ended up being Super Bowl Champions.  That isn't a rub against the '91 Eagles, they, like the Ravens, had to drag their offense to the finish line nearly every game.

 

I hear ya.  That team was poised to make a run and Cunningham went down in the first game of the season.  No team has been as dominant against both the run and the pass as they were that season.  I want to say they had 6 players on that defense make the probowl, back when it actually meant something and three from the D line were first team all pro.  Not sure that has happened since.  

Even if they made the playoffs, their QB play was so bad that no defense could've carried that team to the promised land lol 

There are 10 teams that are win-less so far. Only 9 are playing this weekend (SF already lost thurs.). Carolina is playing the 'Aints, my Steelers are going against the post-Cutler Bears, Eagles face everybody Ben McAdoo is mad at (Giants), the Chargers haven't been tossed out of LA yet but this week KC is gonna try to give California a good reason to, the 'Fins go against the Jets who couldn't convince Romo to get hurt again, the bungles..I mean Bengals go against Green Bay, and Colts and Browns are playing each other and both are win-less so somebody has to get they win, don't they? Big question is who will emerge with the first win of the season? I'm going with the Bengals. Not sure why. Maybe I just feel sorry for them. 

The Titans put on quite a show against Seattle yesterday.  The Sea Hawks had some great

series, especially near the end. However, I just don't see them going anywhere with a one

horse show.

 

On a different note, I was watching the Chicago game live. In all the years I have been

following the game I have never seen such a jackass display that occurred on a blocked

field goal. Showing you butt on the one yard line is NOT a touchdown.

Quite a few "upsets" today.  Carolina, Buffalo, Rams, and Jets all emerge with victories despite being underdogs on paper.  This competitive balance is what's so great about the NFL.
