I wear one all the time on the water. May not look the coolest, but it looks way better than skin cancer.

I have a few and it is getting to be that time of the year.

I just picked up another one from Bed Bath and Beyond, that actually cools as it get moist.

Sun protection and cooling, you bet

Yeah man me and my buddy wear ours when we're out on the water all the time we have the pelagic ones they are a lil expensive but there worth it there Not hot and there easy to breathe through.

I wear one all the time. I will even wear one in the dead of winter to keep a biting cold wind off my face.

There are a lot of different brands and not all are equal in terms of comfort and breath ability. I have only tried 3 different brands but the one I like is made by "Hoorag".

My buddy laughs at me everytime I wear one when we are fishing but I don't like having to reapply sunscreen, especially on my face in the summer when it runs down my face and burns my eyes.  I bought a bunch off SA Fishing for cheap.  Usually you can find them for like 5 for $15 when they run sales.  I wouldn't buy the expensive ones because they aren't much different.

I've tried a couple different brands but I've settled with the Simms SunGaiter.

I also wear face shields i like the SA brand. The also keep the chill off you're face on 40degree days with 20mph winds

Yup.  Face shield, hat, long sleeves, sun gloves. Started wearing these just last summer and it was the first year in over 40 years that I didn't get sunburned. Hopefully I wised up in time and have avoided future skin cancer.

another vote for the SA Fishing shields....I have at least 10 of them!

I wear my gaiter all year every time I fish.

Keeps cold off face...rain off face...sun off face.

You can get burnt easy in winter! Plus sunblock will run into eyes especially if you forget and rub your face

I started wearing them a few years ago ~ now there's almost always one on my grill. (which I do pull down for fish pics)

Honestly I sort of feel half-naked without one.

Seems a lot more appealing to me than slathering up my mug with 50 SPF Mayo . . . .

Odd man out, I guess.  I wear them only because she who must be obeyed tells me I need to. The one I prefer is the buff.

I use them too. I have used multiple brands Columbia, Cabelas, and Huk. All get the job done.

I wear one. I probably look like a tool but not having to keep putting sunblock on my face is nice

I use them when I have to, but I hate them.  Most days I make do with a sunshirt with a very deep hood, stretched over the brim of my hat.  That plus a pretty full beard seem to work when I am on the bank.

I managed to get the tops of my hands a little sunburned a few weeks ago, that was a new for me.

I like the SA ones and at a great deal 5 for $15.00! You can't beat that with a stick!

I use one. from Columbia with cooling rings, when you sweat the rings get cool.. works great

Im irish with extremely pale skin. I use a hoorag when I'm in the Sun, it gets a little warm but protects my fair skin. Though I have been known to get burned through my shoes. I had the pattern of the laces outlined in my feet! If I was in the middle of a lake with no shade I'd invest in one of these though I can't risk sun poisoning again

Heck, I like them wet to keep me cool and also to keep the bugs off.

  • 3 weeks later...

I use the Simms - Sungaiter in the Hex Camo Capri Color... I have been using them for around 5 years. In Arizona while fishing people have to use them all the time...
