I was fishing a neighborhood pond today that I am allowed to fish. There is another pond connected to the stream that I now learned is private. I was walking in the woods, past the pond, in order to reach the house and ask permission, when I noticed a 3 pound bass  lying dead on the ground near the pond. It looked as if someone had caught it and left it there to die. If that was done by an owner, I think its wrong, but they have a right to in a way. If it was someone else, its not cool at all. Why would someone do that. They let a nice bass go to waste. NOT COOL!

 

Maybe that bass was an excellent jumper

but a lousy crawler         

 

 

The first Not Cool post from Tuesday was bad enough, now there is a sequel LOL.  Definitely not looking forward to Not Cool III

Any chance the bass was playing opossum?

I've seen them beach themselves chasing baitfish before. Maybe it was chasing a bluegill and ended up too far from the water for it to be able to flop back. 

Knot kewl at all. 

Maybe it was another that was killed by the hookset and was just left on shore instead of floating a dead fish.

Or someone caught and released this bass without knowing injured the bass some how. He died, bird, wind or something pull him out of water.

 

In the past week I saw at least  4 bass dead on shoreline, beach area.

Another example of the dangers of sunbathing.  I bet not a single one of those dead bass was using sunscreen...

It was definitely not beached, the bass was 15' from the bank

Seems like there's bigger things to be worried about.  Leave it, some animal will get it.

It was attempting an evolutionary "leap" forward but didn't know when to quit.

  You want Not Cool?  Terre Haute Gander Mountain is closing.  I went to that dang store almost every weekend, particularly during the winter drying to survive till spring/summer.  Not cool, sad, depressing.
