I have never used a Berkley hard bait but have recently become curious about the flicker shad & the dredger series of deep diving cranks.

I would like to hear some opinions WITH explanation  of opinion from u all that have used & do use these baits that have no affiliation with Berkley (I allready know Hanks opinion)..

I have limited experience with the Dredger series but have been impressed with them . They  seem to stay at  their maximum depth for a long time and they reach the depth they are rated at . . They cast well and the little bit I used them , they caught a bunch of bass . 

Really impressed with the dredgers and reach for them often.  The published depth is accurate and it gets there fast.

The added weight also lends for farther cast.

There was a thread not too long ago about the Berkley Dredger series I believe, if you want to see numerous reviews.

I fished a Dredger down several breaks earlier this week and was very impressed.  

 

Pros:  They get to depth in a hurry and run extremely well.  The largest Dredger is the size of a 6XD that dives to 10XD depths (25.5), which is especially nice when the situation is more finesse.  

 

Cons:  Color selection doesn't completely suck, but I really wish it were available in some sort of ghost pattern.

The Flicker shads are a solid bait that catches all species of fish. It's an extremely popular crank around here to troll for walleye and white bass, but it works well to cast for bass also (or troll if that's your thing). 

 

The Dredger is a solid crankbait at an affordable price, and a huge bonus it comes with solid stock hardware. 

 

The whole lineup of Berkley's new hardbaits have really won me over to be honest. Hoping to see some topwater offerings at ICAST. 

It appears the word that best describes the Dredger is "impressed " .

I have a few of the Berkley baits and the Dredger in 10.5 and 14.5 have been excellent.  I also have the smaller square bill in I think 5.5 and that is also a great bait.  Plus the Digger 8.5 in Vintage craw is awesome.  Great line of baits!

I've had a few...Dredgers...warpigs....lost every single one of them and fairly quickly.  Certainly not an indictment of the lures, they are well made and perform well.....I just can't keep them.  *shrugs*

Love their warpig and and cutter 110+ love the blugill colors. Super sharp hooks out of the package and run true/suspend 

I recently used the dredger down in El Salto. Did a pretty good job getting down deep and staying down. Caught plenty of 4 to 8 lb fish, while down there on it.

I've never used a dredger than again I haven't seen one on the shelf around here either lol. Flickr shad on the other hand get used a lot. I got few different sizes / patterns and use them for trolling for trout, I toss'em for bass, run them in the salt in 20ft of water trolling for coho salmon & flounder, and swing them in the current on my favorite river for 3 different species of salmon and steelhead. Flat out I think they're one of the most versatile crankbaits I've used and they've brought fish to my hand in every technique I've tried them. buy them whenever I find them on sale and for the price, I don't mind losing them trying something new or dumb lol.

Cabelas already have Dredgers on clearance . I picked up six more today .

Which Flicker Shad do you prefer for Steelhead? I was thinking about trying them in one of the creeks this upcoming fall. Do you suggest a certain size, good producing colors?

Are the Dredgers being discontinued? On the Berkely site they are on sale for 5.99. I might have to pick up a couple more 8.5s. I'm well stocked with the rest.

I believe they are being discontinued.

Just put in an order for more Dredgers. Its a lure I use a lot and dont want to pay a premium for them once they are no longer available.

The 14.5, 17.5, 20.5, 25.5 I use on off-shore structure. The 8.5 and 10.5 I use going down the banks

I like the Dredger in dirty water and a DT in clear water/pressured fish.. The Dredgers have rattles and the DTs are silent..

Watching BASS Elite events, I've seen a lot of guys throwing Dredgers but not speaking about them.

I have been a frequent user of Dredgers, my fav. being the 14.5. I have all the sizes, but wish they would update the colors. If Berkley ever reconstructs it to be a little more flat sided, I will stock up on those as well.

When a couple guys are doign well on a certain crank, it doesnt mean that much. When hundreds of sharpies swear by a bait like people swear by the frittside, there's more than personal bias at work.

This is stupid. I counted my Dredgers and there are 27 of them. I need at least one more 20.5 because I only have three of those.
