I don't know if it's just me but this is the fourth pack of Magnum Rage Bug i've bought in a row that at least half the pack the colors have been extremely off. I love the Rage Bug but it's frustrating when your baits end up looking like chartreuse pepper rather than summer craw.

Lots of guys are complaining about S Blue leader breakoffs.

 

I disregarded it until we had 4 failures with the 8 lb last weekend

......and 3 different guys were tying.

 

Canned the rest, hoping is is an anomaly 

 

 It has been a problem in general since the 70s But it is much worse now in my opinion.

The Alabama craw rage craws are hit or miss too.  Some are solid green pumpkin.  Some are more than 50% orange.  

is it that big of a deal or do they still eat it?

I had a spool of stren original 10lb test that I could easily break with my hands.  It looked fine, was the right diameter, but the entire spool had the breaking strength of maybe 4lb test.  I lost two fish and lures on hook sets before I realized the line was garbage, line was brand new.

I actually had the exact color when the Rage bugs first came out and I didn't fish them for the longest time, but glad I saved a few dozen of them. Strike King does have great quality control, They reject baits that don't have enough flake, but you would never know it since they look perfect.

 

The factory that pours them moves a ton of soft baits so even a company like Strike King can miss a few batches, but I doubt it is a problem that will happen often.

 

Try that color in stained water as a topwater or jig trailer and I bet you catch fish as good or better than normal Summer craw, I am a huge believer in fishing baits that are different than what most people throw even if slightly off.

 

I caught plenty of fish on that color, I now fish chart pepper soft baits as part of my normal colors which I never did in the past. I think it is a confidence thing, I believe using Junebug red flake, Black blue/Silver, Red shad green flake instead of the same as most people. I think it helps, and if you believe it, then it is true.

 

I am sure Strike king will refund your money or send you free stuff. If you call Strike King I would be surprised if they didn't fix the issue, Most companies are really good with complaints since the market is so competitive. Phone calls always seem to work best if you are friendly.

 

Good luck. Add it to jig and I bet you like them. We all use chartruese trailers, Rage bugs catch fish no matter how you fish them. You have a limited edition color. Just my take.

I purposely had Steve "Big-O" Parks send me gallon Ziploc® Storage Bags of various lures that the colors don't match.

 

I lay the whole bag out on the table, match em as close as possible, & rebag em.

 

Y'all would be amazed at how productive some of those colors are!

Gambler usually has a variation in colors.

 

The odd ones are usually the better producer!  Makes no difference to the fish

Buy some Matzu hooks if you want to see a total lack of quality control.

Never considered buying any after looking at them in the package.
