Most Productive Fall Jig Color

Featured Replies

I basically throw two colors of jigs through out the majority of the season. Fall is the exception and I'm talking when the water temps drop into the 50s just before turnover.  Then it's a white jig head with a lot of white in the skirt. I pair it with a Kalin's Lunker Grub in either white, or clear salt&pepper. I have so much confidence in this bait color that I'll normally have two rods rigged with different weight white jigs. I'll work the edges and tops of whatever green weeds I can find.  So, What's your go to jig color in the fall?

Black Neon  ?

Not really sure at the moment. Never bass fished in the fall before, but I'll definitely try the white jig and the black neon jig. Just might be a couple of the next things I order from Siebert Outdoors. ?

I was using dark colors for a long time, mainly black, black/blue, and black/purple for every season. I would throw green pumpkin or brown variations in water that was clear or lightly stained but the last 3 years we've been killing it during late summer through fall with 1 color. Watermelon magic craw, it is watermelon with a blue tint and we pair it with watermelon or watermelon seed color trailers, it works better with little to no contrast.

Black and dark green pumpkin skirt, dark green pumpkin, black, or June bug trailer. Yup, june big, cuz no else around here throws it. I use it on a green pumpkin 1/8 th oz brown hair jig in the Smallie creeks too.

Baitfish colored swim jig and I will have to see what color bottom jig they like this year. Most of the time it is GP but last year it was light brown with one or two strands of blue.

Most productive jig color during the fall ? Hmmmmm, now that's a tuff one, lemme think .......... got it ! ----> BLACK.

...... now that I come and think about it, most productive jig color year round is also ---> BLACK.

kinda simplifies things.

Same as I do during the rest of the year. Water clarity dictates color choice. The only thing that is different in my jig selection come October/November, just before ice out is my trailer choices and jig material choice.

1. For jig trailers I usually opt for bulk and less action. More of the beaver style and less action style like Rage.

2. For jig material I opt for more hair and living rubber mop style. Since I am fishing much slower I want the jig to have very subtle movement and flair while at rest.

I use the same colors that I use the rest of the year. I will start off with a matching trailer. If that doesn't produce I will swap out the trailer for a color that gives a little more contrast.
