Featured Replies

Thanks so much to Gary and Brian at The Tackle Trap for getting my little slice of rod and reel heaven on earth shipped my way this week. :D 843s SJR and a C3000XG. Can't wait to test this thing out on some smallies!

That was my exact response, along with drooling uncontrollably

It doesn't get any better than that. Please give us a review when you get some time on the water, especially the conquest.

My review without fishing it is that it is a bad rod. Super light and sensitive, and the spiral x wrapping gives the blank a really awesome and distinctive look

Jim, really nice looking Rod and Reel (even though Scott may differ on the beauty of the rod comment).  I can't wait to hear your opinion of how it fishes.  I am a big NRX fan and could feel the difference of the GLX compared to the NRX in terms of sensitivity.  I would be curious if that same difference is noticeable between the NRX and the Conquest.  I will say that the old GLX were so much more balanced than the NRX rods (I still can't get over how tip heavy those NRX rods are) and I am hoping G Loomis corrected their error and balanced out the Conquests like they had the GLX.

Steve, the rod is pretty incredible. This was with my Stella 2500FE before the FI arrived. You can see the balance point.

Sweet looking combo Jim. Let us know how that blank compares to the NRX if you get a chance to fish it before ice up.

Nice balance!  i would still add a little weight to the end as I like the balance point at the center of the reel seat, but that is still better balanced than the NRX.  Thanks for the picture and response!

It’s about perfect for how I like to hold my spinning rods (3 fingers in front of the frame/foot of the reelseat). That’s the bad part with a rod company trying to balance things from the factory, everyone prefers somethingba but different.

That is the ugliest spinning set up I’ve ever seen. Being the nice guy I am, I’ll be more than happy to take it off your hands. It’s the least I can do. Wink wink ?

In all honesty, that is one heck of visual, jaw-dropping eye candy. Congrats.

Fishballer’s post captures it perfectly.

Rod is $650

Reeel is $800

total less line is $1,450

So heaven is owning the most expensive OTC spinning combo.

This is the first Shimano engineered rod since Gary Loomis sold his company. What is the return policy with the Conqust rod?

Just curious, why the 3000 series reel using braid?

If you got the expendable income should be a very good combo.

Yes, those are the MSRP prices.

Heaven is us owning an incredibly light, sensitive rod and my favorite, incredibly flawless reel.

The Conquest comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty just like the rest of the Loomis brand, and is eligible for the no questions asked expiditor program.

The spool oil on the 2500 HGS is REALLY shallow. Plus, this reel is the same frame. I primarily wanted the upgraded drag and higher gear ratio.

Its perfect. I have a similar set up. NRX 842 and Stella 3000HGM. LOVE IT

this was not done in error, i believe it was done on purpose. the E6X rods are the same way. G. Loomis talks about this on their website about 'swing weight' and how certain rods were made this way due to technique used.

to the OP, amazing combo!

Beautiful rig BasserJim, and IMO a perfect example of how the finer things can make our time on the water pursuing those little green fish even more enjoyable. And whlle you are enjoying your time on the water with that sweet set up, some of us will be trying to figure out how to get our little slice of Rod and Reel Heaven ?.

Good fishin, JB

I have a 843 spinning rod IMX-PRO paired with a Vanford 3000 that I can’t quite figure out what the best application is for it. Any suggestions?

What application did you purchase it for? Brian.

Pretty much an all-around rig. Throw whatever you like. Weighted or weightless soft plastics

is the easy answer.
