What is your favorite football jig or just jig brand?

anyone like River2sea for jigs

I make my own. I really like the football mold with the flat top head, recessed line tie, and wire keeper.

Siebert Outdoors newer designed football jigs (also a sponsor) - once you try there is little reason to use anything else !

Like Bluebasser86 I do my own and have for years....an addiction.  Usually use a Mustad black nickle hook and life is good.

I started using Mike Siebert's jigs about 11 years ago or so before they became the "it" jig on this board.  At that time he didn't have all the different styles but he had a well built jig at a very nice price.  I still use Mike's jigs almost exclusively and the Gridiron style football head is my football head of choice.

Having said that, there are lots of good quality jigs out there though I think you would be hard pressed to find a better price for the same quality as Siebert's.  And I think the anglers that make their own are definitely able to create exactly what appeals to them in a jig.

What would you guys recommend for hand tieing? What kind of jig holder? And wire?

You mean jig vice? Living rubber skirts?

I make my football jigs using a old mold made back in '70 with 5/8, 3/4 & 1 oz heads, 90 degree 5/0 hook, no weed gaurd.

Today Siebert Outdoors make excellent jigs in several designs and GYCB has a good plain football jig under $1 with Gamakatsu or Owner hooks.

Go to the Tackle making forum and look at the 4 Dec thread on wire tieing jig skirts.

Skinny bear jigs

I make my own but I don’t wire tie mine. I use different colored bands when I want to add a little something different to the jig. I just like being able to create and make what I feel appeals to my local waters. More of a hobby to me then hardcore jig making. I don’t really think the bass care if my jig is flashy. Sometimes I make jigs that just appeal to me. I love fishingskirts.com

I don’t throw football jigs much, but when I do it’s War Eagle.

I use a Regal vise from years gone by...works well.  Favorite tying thread is Kevlar....very strong.  Use with a fly tying bobbin.  And Fishing Skirts makes some beautiful stuff.

I use my regular vise with the rubber guards and 22 guage craft wire.
