i know if i have been asking a lot of questions but this is the best way to get answers! i am thinking a 7.3.1 ration vs a 6.3.1

Reel ratio is mostly personal  preference. There is a mechanical advantage to 5:1 reels for deep cranking and to a lesser extent 7:1 for jigs or top waters that throw slack into the line. 

I like the higher ratios for everything exc spinnerbaits.  I use an old 5.3:1 because I find it hard to slowly retrieve them with the higher ratios.

I choose my reels like this, slow reel for fast moving baits and fast reels for slow moving baits. For example I crank with a 5 speed, spinnerbaits and chatterbait a 6 speed, big Texas rigs and frogs a 7, jigs and pitching an 8 speed.

It seems about every 20 years favored baitcasting reel gear ratio's change, I believe 6.3:1 is still the most popular selling reels. 20 years most bass anglers fished with 6'6" MH fast action rods, that has changed to 7' MH fast action. Was everyone wrong 20 years ago, the bass haven't changed.

IMO, the 6.3 ratio is more versatile. I could use it for jigs, t-rigs, spinner baits, chatter baits, cranks, jerk baits, etc.

Of those 2 I'd go with the 7.3. It's easier to slow down than speed up.

I use 6.3 for just about everthing.  I have a 5 ratio luna for huge swim baits and a 7.9 that sits in the box.  The other 17 are 6.3 and around that speed.  6.8 on alphas because the spool is so small.  Do you fish like a pro with the TM on high blazing down a bank trying to find active fish?  If covering water is a huge goal then a higher ratio may fit your style.  One speed is no better than any other, and a mid speed can be cranked fast or slow.  I personally hate creaping a fast reel, while trying to keep up on a 5 is a lot of work for jigs and frogs.  How do you like to fish, and what fits your style....
