I want to throw a KVD Sexy Dawg 200 / 300 sizes  and a Wopper Plopper 90 / 110 sizes  on the same bait cast outfit :

*I can't decide between Power Pro 30 lb. or 40 lb. line size - your thoughts and experiences what braid size you would go with for these top water baits ?

Either will work.

If you're looking for more distance the 30 may offer a bit more than the 40.

I go with 40 personally, but I also throw a lot more stuff on that rod and also fish the 130 whopper plopper with it too. 30 will probably be fine. 

Thanks for the replies - The Sexy Dawg 300 weighs 7/8th oz. I believe while the WP110 is just under 1 oz. as well . I'd also like to be able to throw spinner baits up to 1/2 oz. and swim jigs / chatter baits up to 3/8th oz. as well using the same reel on a different (stiffer rod) . I suppose both 30 lb. & 40lb. braid would work and as A-Jay stated you might get a bit more distance out of 30 lb. braid .

Always has to be one I guess. I fish all of those baits on17lb mono.

Been using it for a couple years now with no issues, plus it allows for longer cast, which is a big benefit when they come up schooling like they do at times on some of the lakes I fish. No snap cast, no monster hooksets, no problems. 

I think monofilament is a better choice, specifically #11 Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo.

 

I have used 30lbs braid but I prefer 10lbs mono or co-polymer line for top water fishing. I just prefer the stretch of mono for top water.

Not a fan of braid on walking baits as i always seem to get the front treble tangled up.  I use 15lb yozuri hybrid myself.

No leader needed with a whopper plopper and can always run a short mono leader with a walking bait .

Most braid baitcasters seem to prefer 40 due to better handling than the lighter tests.  If lure tangling is a problem put a fairly stiff mono leader on (not FC for surface-it will sink and screw up the action of the lure unless you're using a lure that is steadily retrieved, like the Whopper Plopper or old jitterbug).

 

I like braid for surface, but my casting rods I use for surface are pretty slow action.  With a fast action, mono may be more appropriate.
