They ARE crazy... but i like it!

Featured Replies

We all know that the good folks at Savage Gear are one night of hard drinkin/weed smokin away of coming out with the 3D Suicide Manatee but man do their baits look cool!

Yep!  After two ducks, two rats and one bat...  i´m gonna get me a couple snakes! :smile7:

I saw a video of a closeup aerial shot of the swim and it looks nasty. Bass will eat all kinds of critters, and I love that they're not afraid to drop baits to imitate some of the not so standard prey items that bass are still very willing to indulge in.

Those look pretty cool. I wonder how effective they'd be on a lake that doesn't really have any snakes? My area I can't even call my neck of the woods....More like the concrete jungle if anything.

The swimming action on that thing looks crazy cool.

I'd probably be using it with wire . . .

Just say'in.

Doesn't matter. If they think it looks like food they'll eat it. A lot of the Savage Gear baits are super realistic and designed to mimic some sort of animal, but it doesn't matter if it looks like a bat/duck/whatever as long as it's got good action.

I’ve seen muskies hit pretty good sized water snakes up

here on Georgian Bay. I’m with A-Jay, gonna need some wire in front of that one next spring maybe ?

Bass are bass. They will hit it. Predators think only about the opportunity to feed. Not what they are feeding on. Think about how wolves will attack a wounded animal even if that animal is not found naturally in there area. The only reason Savage Gear makes it look like a snake is to attract us, the customer. My opinion, the bait is perfect for florida bass fishermen and women.

Is there anything that can bend after a bass hits it? The duck’s feet bend sometimes and the bat’s wings bend very easily, that’s the only thing that sucks about them.

Soooooo....you've met my ex-wives?

That thing looks awesome. I'll buy 2.

The only reason I don't hate savage gear after buying that stupid duck is the fact that they make my favorite frogs (lily ninja).

Doug Hannon must be looking at this and saying oh my!

I remember a lure that swam like that bait that was widely ridiculed, the Dancin' Eel.

My brother from another mother! I have a bunch of Savage Gear lures and really like all of them...  except them stupid ducks, i´ve got 7/8 hits on both of them, 0 hookups! The d**n thing is useless...

For a moment i tought maybe i could improvise some sort of assist hook for them but then i realized that fishing a whopper plopper the same amount of time gives me more strikes and a waaaaaay better hookup ratio so...  i´ll stick to them!

It's cool if you have the time to wait for a strike and to say you caught one on it.

Certainly there are better top waters to throw that would get better results.

Do you have the hooks on the bottom? I haven’t had a hookup problem, I’ve even caught 2 largemouth in one cast on it.

#ME TOO !

The other day at the lake, I saw a snake there. I was thinking that I knew there was snakes but never saw them swim on the water. Now the monkey bait might get me this one !

Yes, fish them right from the package and i just cant´get a good hookset on the thing, the bottom treble should be more towards the end of the bait. Maybe someday, if i feel bored, i´ll try to make na assist hook and give them another shot...

I have two vintage floating snake heads by Doug Hannon . They go on your line like a bullet weight then add a ribbon tail  soft plastic .

I might buy one, take the hooks off, and use it to mess with my buddy when we are wading.

It looks like Savage gear has come out with yet another lure I could use for 2 straight summers without single a bite. On the other hand, I didn't think the SPRO Rat would work for me and it has. I feel like the Rat will do everything this snake does. It's a critter that ash the unmitigated audacity to swim right through the bass's domain. That won't be long tolerated.
